We visited Shimla in monsoon season but had a great guide Dinesh.Jhangta@gmail.com who took us on the Heritage Walk and was full of stories. We're great walkers and he took us on two short treks to Hindu temples too. Thoroughly recommended.

The walk was refreshing, tiring but good exercise for the morning. We get to see the locals at work, up close, and get to know some of the buildings and its history, up close.
