An interesting temple dedicated to the goddess Kali with British-inspired architecture. It is rather unusual and you can also spend some time observing the rituals of pilgrims pouring water while praying.

It's located at high altitude. From no car zone you have to walk around half km and then steep up hill for 10 minutes. 1845 by a Bengali Brahmin Ram Charan Brahamchari in the vicinity of Rothney Castle on Jakhoo Hill. That's why it resembles the Dakshineswar Kali Temple in Kolkata.[2] It is one of the ancient temples of the city and features a unique Hindu-style architecture along with blue coloured wooden idol of goddess Kali. Later, the British shifted the location of the temple to Bantony Hill

Kalibari temple is run by the ramakrishna mission and has the same style of construction. The main temple is of Maa Kali, the ferocious mother who kills demons. There is another temple of lord Shiva next to the main temple. The courtyard is open and spacious. At the entrance of the temple, there is a large TV which relays live darshan of Maa Kali. So passerby can have the darshan without having to enter the temple. This i guess would have been done during covid when temples were closed.
The temple offers breathtaking views of shima, hills and the surround areas. You can stand there for hours just looking at the hills.
And you get spiritually recharged after having darshan of Maa Kali. Must visit for anyone visiting shimla.

The temple is one layer above the Main Mall road, nearest to the Railway Office. The premises is neat & Clean and a short climbing in the road required to reach the temple. There is a guest house also if you want to stay. The temple is small and the view of Shimla town from the temple premises is beautiful.

Clean and less populated by monkeys than other temples, this Temple offers great views of the Himalayers and other parts of Shimla.

Rooms are quiet good and specious with new sanitary fittings. Checkin and check out times are flexible. Sufficient blankets and quills are provided. But the main drawback is non-availability of hot water. They only provide hot water for bathing in morning but in irregular manner. At other times not hot water supply is there. During the chilling cold of January it will be much difficult without sufficient hot water. Moreover no provisions of room heater is available.

How many steps to cross through staircase to enter in main temple as there will be about 65 years aged woman(my mother-in-law) with me and will it be possible for us to visit Simla staying there?
How are bathrooms in kalibari guest house? My parents can't use Indian style bathrooms as because they are suffering from joint pains. Is there western style bathrooms available?

Firstly you have to mail them regarding your requirements mentioning the checkin and checkout days.If rooms are available they will revert back sending you the bank account details in which you have to deposit @ Rs 300 per day through NEFT/RTGS.
They have dining room where u can have freshly cooked veg/non veg meals at cheap rate. The meals must be booked according to your choice and token slips to be collected prior on the date paying the amount. You can have tea, tiffin or brkfast also at the cheapest rate available in Simla.

you may contact this no. 0177 265 2964. but beware of the following facts: out of 64 rooms only 12 have attached bath, very few western style; the common baths are always dirty(data courtesy: Mr Anup Mathur). Also, as the area is out of bounds for private vehicles, you will be on your own carrying all your luggage to and from the guest house; and that is quite a heavy task even at that altitude. I'm not sure about it, but porters may be available at the station.
