This historic complex deserves a lot more attention and visitors. It’s situated bang on the Mall Road in Shimla and so its extremely convenient to get there. Once you enter, you’ll be greeted by Mr Gautam who has extensive knowledge about the history of this theatre. Walk in along with him, admire the Victorian architecture and feel a part of history for a few minutes. Walk on the stage where great artists have stepped before and then move on to the balcony area. There is a gallery of pictures showing old plays at the theatre and detailing its restoration before the exit. Truly an iconic complex to be proud of.

The theatre , built on the style of Victorian theatres in the UK has been beautifully and sympathetically renovated. The ceiling arches to the back of the theatre, making the acoustics excellent. Every details including the colours and fabric replicate the original. In the top floor there are lovely historical photos from the original theatre and before and after photos following the renovation.

Did a tour here, and it was fun. This historic Victorian theatre was the centre of cultural entertainment for the elite in the British Raj days.
Great to see it restored and still producing plays.
Short tour of around 20
Minutes going up on stage and up to the balcony as well as hearing about the history of this fine theatre.
The enthusiasm and friendliness of the staff is palpable. Only shame is we couldn’t have attended the interesting looking production tonight

Really lovely little theatre which still puts on performances. Very cosy and sympathetically refurbished. Lots of old photos of casts from plays gone by, many have been autographed. 20-30 mins well spent.

This historic Gaiety Heritage Cultural Complex was wonderful place to visit. Though built in British era it great to see that the place is restored and maintained very well. The eagerness and friendliness of the staff is impeccable.

Fascinating insight into British India; it's like a small provincial theatre in the UK. Beautifully restored too. We were shown around by a man who had great knowledge and cared passionately about the place. It's a little expensive to visit, but I assume it costs a lot to keep it going.

A visit to this Theatre should not be missed at all.
A must for history buffs, it will give you a glimpse of life during the British Raj.
The Museum people have done a great job of preserving the building and the restoration is a commendable job.

Not to be missed this is a little gem, having been recently restored to its former glory! Do not miss the gallery upstairs with its collection of photos of plays from the days when the British performed there. We were lucky enough to see some Indian girls rehearsing some dances so it is very much a living theatre.

Though small in size, location is right on top of The Mall. We had our meeting in the complex. The lighting and arrangements were perfect and did not at all reveal age of the complex.
