Much easier to get around on the metro than by car.
The metro is really well sign-posted in English. The journeys are incredibly cheap: 30 rupees (3p) each for eight stops. We only made one journey and the train was quite full. But I got a seat and it was easy to see where we had been and where we were going. The traffic in Delhi is appalling, so the metro is a cheap, efficient and easy alternative. Plus ticket buying not hard and other travellers friendly and helpful

    Great
Very clean,Modern metro with great connectivity all around. Coaches are very clean and comfortable. Platforms are very clean. Very very impressed. I am from USA and can say that platforms, coaches and cleanliness is far better than New York and Philadelphia metro. Great job Delhi.

    Brilliant
The metro in Delhi is a great way to get around the metropolis. Buy your metro card at any station. It takes two minutes, and you're good to go. It's easy to find your way around the stations, and around the metro network. The carriages are cool, but you have to be lucky to get a seat.

The Delhi metro is marvellous. As a solo foreign tourist I felt safe at all times. Full of women. The security is excellent. It’s easy to understand. The staff are helpful. It’s clean and very reliable. I was amazed - and used it all the time. It’s also very very cheap. About 30rps to get to most places. It’s well connected- you can get anywhere.

Customer unfriendly treatment from ticket counter staff at the Delhi airport. I gave Rs 200 for a 120 Rs ticket. He didn't give me the balance of Rs 80. He said if you want ticket then you give the exact amount. He did not give me the balance and threw the ticket on my face !! Very bad behaviour !!.

Worst experience
Such a delay
It's very easy to run a recording saying "we apologize for the inconvenience" instead of running the recording focus on improving the frequency . I mean a 10 minutes journey took 45 minutes

Have no fear of using the Delhi Metro!
It’s a very modern, clean and easy to use system and while it may not get you directly from A to B like an Uber or tuk tuk.. it’s very cheap and pretty fun too.
We had no trouble getting a smart card from the customer care booths ..we got the normal smart card and just topped up when we needed.
Note that minimum top up at the customer care booth is 200INR, but you can top up in increments of 100 at the TVM automatic machines. Also note the tvm often only takes notes of 100INR or less as payment.
While it can get busy, we never missed a train, never got pick pocketed and always felt safe.
Interestingly enough we never saw any other tourists using the train which surprised us considering how easy it was to use.
We tried to stick to attractions that were walking distance from the metro exits but were happy to tuk tuk if needed to get to our destination.
Felt quite proud of ourselves for dipping our toes into public transport and travelling like a local.

The metro system is a great and very cheap way to travel especially if you mainly want to see the sights, but staying far out. The system is pretty clean & safe, albeit very busy and nearly packed all the time except for the outer areas.
