We only decided last minute to take the metro rather than get a taxi, what a great decision!
It cost about £0.40 ea to get to the verge of Delhi, hassle free, no traffic jams, no queues or beeping horns and it took around 10 minutes.
We got the metro back to the airport as our experience was so good. You can even check in for the airport at certain stations.

Fabulous Metro. Best for Airport from NDLS. It is close from Platform number 16 of NDLS. You need to walk for 10 minutes. The best part is once you enter metro premises, you can avail service by Metro people to carry your bags, purchasing Metro ticket without standing in queue and drop you till Metro at a reasonable charge of Rs 80. The ticket cost is Rs 60 per head. You can reach airport Terminal 3 in 20 minutes. Terminal 2 is 10 minutes walk from Terminal 3. Terminal 1 is accessible from Terminal 3 by shuttle/Feeder bus. By road during peak hours you may take 1 and half hour from NDLS to Airport.

It's such a hassle free experience if one wants to switch between railway station and airport line . Special attention is given owing to the airport line metro station. There are trolleys outside as soon as you get down the metro . Even metro is designed in such a way that one can easily settle down with luggage . And it was a very nice experience.

Hi.
With the heavy traffic in Delhi and to reach airport on time take only the airport metro.
From Delhi the airport metro takes you to T1 with stop at Aerocity and for T2&T3 stops at IGI T3.
If you are flying on AirIndia or Vistara check-in at the airlines counters at New Delhi Metro, the start of this route. This facility is also available at Shivaji Stadium station and then travel hands-free to the airport.

Excellent service provider. I always prefer to travel in the airport metro. Had a bad experience on 7th Nov 2023. Usually the train takes approx less than 25 mnts from Dwarka 21 to N DLI Rly Stn. It took more than 38 mnts on this day. This caused tension/anxiety as we had to catch train at 05:50. Reason the metro ran at very low speed. It was not good as we were on very tight schedule.
Since it was the first train in the morning and we had no choice but to catch this train only. This type of inefficiency is highly deplorable.

If you compare the Delhi Express with similar trains in the world, where you can take the subway to the airport (Madrid, New York, Hong Kong, Beijing, Copenhagen, Johannesburg- what remembered), there is nothing outstanding about the branch to the airport that opened in 2011. Probably bleaker than the analogues. That was our impression when we arrived. However, if we compare it not to the world, but to Delhi, as we did on departure from Delhi, the express train to the airport is the best line of the Delhi Metro. First, the fastest. 22 kilometers from the international terminal to Central Station the train flies in 20 minutes. Largely because of the small number of stations. There are only 6. And, of course, the trains. The trains on this branch are not of Indian manufacture like the other lines, but Spanish CAF. With soft seats, screens, etc. The branch has a separate fare, so there are few passengers. This is the second advantage, because Indian transport is not for the faint of heart. Third, the carriages are clear. It's the last clear place before Grand Central Station. There's your first culture shock, so enjoy 20 minutes of pure India.

Air-conditioned and fast, it allowed us to arrive by train and go directly to the airport. From the station it is well signposted (Ajmeri side) with few stairs, mainly elevators from the train platforms and escalators in the metro. Provides access to the new Aerocity district, with its modern hotels close to the metro, ideal for a last night before departure.

I was pleasantly delighted by the cleanliness, ease and speed of this way of getting out of Delhi to the airport. Don't ever consider even a private car let alone a taxi.
Wonderful, especially for normally crowded, chaotic India

If you are willing to spend that much time waiting for the metro until 4:45 am ..then you can stay at lounge until then ..there are many credit cards of various banks which allow lounge access just for Rs 2..if you don’t possess any unfortunately you have to pay for the lounge access. Or if you not alone spending 4 hrs with ur co traveller won’t be difficult I suppose.
