I am an ex alumni of this great insitution having passed out from here after an Executive program in 184/85.It was then located in a high rise building in Nehru place. The space was cramped with not many facilities but the teaching staff was excellent ,in fact the best authorities in the field of international trade. It had to be so as india in those years was facing a severe crunch in its Balance of Payments with imports far exceeding the country`s exports. It was rightly decided to set up this institution to professionalise the country`s foreign trade management to increase its exports. This Institute came up in 1963 in a make shift accommadation at Nehru place.
I recently decided to pay a nostalgic visit to my Alma Mater which has now shifted to a new campus some years back at Qutub Insitutional Area of Jawharlal Nehru University & the Indian Institute of Technology & the JNU campus are located next to it.I was happy to see its extensive area of nearly 6 acres & see its expansion beyond its humble beginnings with extensive modern facilities. It is now a deemed `Varsity & holds autonomous entrance exams across various centres. With about 60000 candidates applying for its meagre 260 seats making it one of the toughest `B`schools to get in to.Sometimes back it had opened a new center at Kolkotta & also a satellite campus abroad in Tanzania at Dar-es-salaam.
It has always been voted among the top 10 Business institute in India & worth dreaming about!
