This Tower, which is located at Kamla Nehru Ridge, is very near to North Campus, Delhi. This was built in 1828 AD as a signal tower is historically important as Europeans took shelter here after capture of Delhi by the rebel soldiers. This strong tower was refuge for saving life of Europeans who were hunted by the rebel soldiers and a fierce war waged here between the British forces and soldiers who had deserted their army and revolted against them.
This is a strong tower and has just one room but in times of distress could be important refuge for those who took shelter here.
Not recommended for those who come to Delhi for a short time but good for those who are keen to familiarize themselves with important landmarks which played significant role as some point of its history.

I visited this place on my round of ancient attractions like the Mutiny Memorial,Ashoka Pilar,Chauburji Mosque,Pir Ghaib,Nicholson Cemetery etc all located .around the northern Kamla Nehru Ridge near Delhi `Varsity. Flagstaff Tower is a one room tower built by the British as a signal tower around 1828.It was the highest point on the Ridge when it was built & was mostly barren covered with low shrubs before the re-forestation of this area.

It was in this Tower that the British along with their families took refuge in 1857 during the siege of Delhi by the rebellious Indian troops, waiting for help to arrive from the British garrison in Meerut.

Today it is a protected monument & very well preserved with a green park surrounding it.Many foreign, even the British; are amazed by the very good condition of the monuments connected with the 1857 War. More so, when the British inflicted such untold cruelty on the citizens of north India in retaliation of the rebellion, which no other of their former colonies ever did give so much respect to their former rulers, in spite of all that befell on them later.
