I would never have known that this edifice was called the 'canopy' short of coming across it's name in TA not least as there is nothing at or near this mounument that tells you what it's called - indeed there is something of a dearth of info' nearby - BUT the whole of this area as you pass by the... Canopy is located just at the back of India Gate. Nothing great in it. Earlier staue of George V was installed inside, long which has been removed. Good place to take few pictures. In case you are visiting India Gate than you can see this place also.

The history behind this is unknown to me and may be to lot of others too. It is adjacent to India gate and everyone must have seen this while walking on the India Gate circle.

Canopy is a monument beside India Gate. There is nothing special about it. If you are visiting India Gate, you can take some photographs with Canopy also. You can easily reach India gate by Delhi metro (get down at Central Secretariat Metro Station).

Canopy which used to have statue of Georg V during British Times is empty now It is just opposite India Gate , so one can visit just for photo click for 5-10 minutes Otherwise nothing great about this place

As India gate this canopy was constructed after World war I. Originally it contained a statue of Georg V. After the indepences the statue was removed.

This canopy is situated a few metres away from the imposing India Gate Memorial giving it an empty & isolated look also due to the difference in their sizes.It has a rather nice look to it made in red sand stone.Earlier the statue of King George v used to be kept here which was shifted to the Coronation park in...
