If you are even considering spending a day with Ketaki, I couldn't encourage you more to do so. She provided an invaluable experience that went far beyond shopping that I will carry with me happily for the rest of my life.
I had been in Delhi for about a month and really wanted to have some clothes made. However, I had a bit of a different request since I wanted Western clothing made with Indian fabrics and embellishments. I was at a loss of how to find the material on my own, if a tailor could even do what I requested, and was also feeling a bit down due to the experiences I have had with people seeing me as just a source of money. I contacted Ketaki with some photos that I found inspirational. Ketaki was prompt in responding, refreshingly honest, and made certain to find out what exactly I wanted to see if she would be able to help me.
Shopping with Ketaki is like going shopping with your friend who always knows the cool, secret places to shop. She expertly guided me through Chadni Chowk, made sure I was comfortable and looked after my safety, and showed me places I could have never found on my own. Despite the monsoon causing massive flooding, she managed to fit in time to find enough material for over twenty outfits and a stop at the tailors. She was patient, kind, very helpful when you are overwhelmed at options, and great on quickly gauging what you like so that she can take you to specific places that will suit your needs.
Outside of doing an incredible job at helping you shop, Ketaki is a beautiful human being inside and out. She is easily the most memorable person I have met in India. I enjoyed getting to know her. Talking to her is like talking to a close friend. I couldn't say enough positive things about Ketaki and my experience. I wouldn't hesitate to do the tour again on a return visit, or if I find I have more time in the remainder of my visit.
Once I have my outfits back from the tailors I will upload the results in case anyone else is interested in having Western style outfits made here.

This was by far, the best day we spent in Delhi. Delhi is a fascinating city, but seeing the old markets with a local and learning about all the small rituals and cultures while shopping for whole sale bargains (with Ketaki, an incredibly knowledgeable local) was by far the most fun day we had. Yes, I will say it is expensive, but after doing a lot of research into different shopping tours prior to leaving home, this got the best reviews and deservedly so. The other interesting thing is that we had done some shopping on our own a few days prior and the money we saved with Ketaki by buying wholesale and getting absolutely superior pashminas and fabrics made the extra we spent on the tour well worth it. I will give a bit of advice...do not go with specific ideas about what you want to buy, rather, just ideas about different things e.g., if you want gold bangles, don't go with a photograph of a specific design as you will waste a lot of valuable time looking for something that probably doesn't exist any longer...just enjoy all of the different designs, colors and textures that Ketaki will show you. She also showed us some amazing sights of the city that we would not have otherwise been able to see as tourists on our own. It was an amazing tour. I will do it again as soon as I get back to India and I do hope that is very soon! My husband and I took our 2 adult daughters on this tour and had so much fun!

The key to having a successful trip is to know what you are looking for. If you're 'just looking'...this might not be the tour for you. Ketaki is very nice, very personable and I truly enjoyed my day with her. I was traveling alone and really wanted to visit Old Delhi. Going with Ketaki was perfect since she filled me in on so many details and so much interesting information and history. She shared stories with me about her life, family and culture which I really enjoyed. I did find some gifts to bring home, and I felt like I paid a fair price for quality merchandise. Ketaki even showed me how to 'feel quality'! The best part of this tour was that I felt safe with her and she was very good to provide me with tips to keep my belongings safe and repeatedly checked to make sure I still had everything. I fully enjoyed the day with her, and arrived back at my hotel ready for a good nap! The reason for a 4 rating instead of a 5 was the price - charged in USD then converted at that days rate and paid in INR - I think I just expected more for that kind of money. Or maybe I'm just not the shopper I thought I was! I would still recommend the tour, but would also recommend telling Ketaki what you want to find so that she'll be able to provide you with a great shopping tour.

Our day of shopping with Ketaki was one of the highlights of a three week trip in India. The exhilarating, tumultuous maze of Chadni Chowk was made navigable and meaningful by our wonderful hostess. We saw a side to Delhi that would have been impossible otherwise. The sights, the sounds, the smells resonate in my memories of beautiful India. Indeed had we not bought a single thing, I would have loved this excursion. However, we bought several items that I will treasure for years to come.

We took this tour in October and it was an experience but I wouldn't do it again as it is very expensive. We thought the prices would have been much cheaper for the things we got ( I wonder about the commission?) I've been travelling to India since 1984 and I'm always after a bargain or two. Ketaki is very knowledgeable about her city. But my daughter and I know a lot about shopping in Delhi. We learnt heaps from the following incident that happened on this trip to India.
My Grandson who is 15 but looks 18 was standing on the road outside our hotel in Paraganj New Delhi and a guy came up and asked him to go to his shop. " as they all do" he offered him half of his commission. Our grandson agreed to go in the shop for 10 minutes he ended up with half the guys commission (500rps) which was 1000rps just to get someone in the shop and if they buy it is 37% commission to the guy which means the customer pays a lot more. I'm so pleased I found this out.
My daughter and I found the scarves to be cheaper at retail in Paraganj than what they were with Ketaki. The quality was exactly the same even the same colour. You do see a lot of the city with Ketaki where you would not venture on your own. There are city walks you can go on to see the back alleys and they are cheap. Hope this review helps others to make up their mind if they should go or not.

My experience with Ketaki was amazing. She not only took me to the most wonderful shopping places but she also showed me parts of her life, history and Indian culture. Ketaki is a fantastic lady who I felt became my friend in a day. Thank you Ketaki for making my very first day in India one of the most memorable.

All the rave reviews about Ketaki are 100% true. She is a very knowledgable and personable individual who led me on a fabulous day of shopping in the market.
I am an artist who makes one of a kind gift boxes and so was looking for exotic items to decorate my pieces with. There is no way I could have found all the items on my own nor did I know about all the treasures that exist in the market. It was SO much fun.
On top of the wonderful shopping experience, it was fascinating to talk to Ketaki and to get a glimpse into the life and culture of the people of India. Thank you so much Ketaki and I look forward to working with you in the future.

My friend and I had a blast spending the day with Ketaki! We had a long list of things we wanted to try to do and all our expectations were beyond met. Ketaki grew up in the area of the markets she took us to so we definitely felt very comfortable that she knows her stuff. We left the tour at the end of the day feeling extremely pleased, but also well informed, CARED for, and ready to take on the rest of our trip on our own. She gave us shopping advice for the rest of our trip, too! We would definitely do it again, will definitely recommend to anyone already visiting Delhi and would recommend that people go to Delhi just to spend a day with Ketaki!

I had such a fantastic experience navigating the narrow alleys of Old Delhi (Chandni Chowk) with Ketaki. I have been in Delhi for a few weeks now but was apprehensive of venturing into Old Delhi - but with Ketaki, it was wonderful. Chaotic and with so much to see. If you love just wandering, seeing a new place, and finding great things along the way -- this tour is for you. I was able to buy all kinds of fun treasures and such lower prices than I've found elsewhere (alone) in the city. I loved choosing strands of semi-precious stones and as I watched, having a necklace and bracelet made to my specifications.
The scarf dealer was a fabulous experience. Literally tens of thousands of scarves of differing materials/qualities in every color imaginable. I bought 28 (!). Plus several brass items. And thanks to Ketaki I now have a collection of kurtas in so many colors (and I wear a size that isn't super easy to find). We explored a few other markets around Delhi as well.
At the end of the day, I was exhausted and thrilled with my purchases. The tour was worth every penny -- not only for the cost savings (I was still able to buy more than I ever would have on my own) but I saw shops I would have never found as a tourist (the scarf vendor for example is in an alley, through an unmarked door, up a flight of narrow stairs). I really enjoyed the day, Ketaki is fun to talk to -- and I tried new street snacks that were all delicious. I will recommend the tour to friends and family who visit Delhi without hesitation.

We had pre-booked online with Ketaki Rohatgi (Delhi Shopping Tours) for her to guide us for our shopping requirements in the Chandni Chowk markets in Old Delhi and at the gold market. Ketaki met us on time and as planned at our hotel and then proceeded to skillfully and expertly guide us around the markets to do our shopping. The tour through the markets was very enlightening as Ketaki knew in depth exactly where to take us for our shopping needs. Additionally, while guiding us around, she provided us with a great insight into life in the markets, in Old Delhi and India generally. She was also very helpful and supportive of us in relation to an incident we had near the end of or tour with her. A thoroughly beautiful, knowledgeable and well spoken person who we would not hesitate to recommend to others.

Hi Ketaki
My husband and I had great shopping experience with you last November. In the Chandi Chowk we bought these amazing silver plated/ metal bangles. I love them and would like to buy more. Can you help me get the name of the store and contact info? The bangles are that silver metal material and have different t kinds of edges in all shapes, very cool. We also bought some ankle bracelets there. Do they have a website?
many thanks

This private tour is amazing because she takes you down little streets and you meet locals, eat street food etc. It's not something you can just pass on a list of shops and recreate for yourself.
