About
When in India offers exhilarating yet leisurely tours of the charming Old Delhi in specially designed pedicabs (rickshaws) and includes an exclusive visit to an old haveli (mansion) built in 1860. Our one-of-a-kind tours have been covered in various newspapers, TV channels and magazines and are included among 'the top 50 trips of the world' by Outlook Traveller (a top travel magazine in India). If you are looking to explore Delhi's rich history, heritage, religions, cuisines and culture, then you will love this experience. With us, you get transported 400 years back in history and glide through the narrow lanes of Chandni Chowk (The Moonlit Square of India), the most popular street in Old Delhi. Take the tour and witness the architectural marvels, the multicolored facades, beautifully decorated shops, ethnically dressed men and women and get bombarded by the fragrances emanating from the potpourri of eateries that line these historical alleys. Included in the tour (exclusive offerings) are foods from famous eateries, real time live-commentary, visit to an exclusive photo-gallery and souvenir booklet. Our expert Delhi enthusiasts (passionate guides) show the city from the local's perspective and tell tales that breathe life into the history of one of the greatest heritage cities in the world and help the guests discover the real places that they will not find in the guide books. Our 'holistic tours' include visits to Red Fort, Jama Masjid, Spice Market, Wedding Market, various Religious Shrines, Silver Bazaar, Town Hall, Zeenat Mahal, old mansions, and other hidden gems. We have paired up with several Delhi hotels and have served dignitaries including the ambassadors from the American and the French Embassies and many other guests from international organization like W.H.O., U.N.E.S.C.O., World Bank, U.N.D.P., Bill Gates Foundation, U.N. and others. We also offer tours in New Delhi, Agra and Jaipur.

We had an excellent time cycling through Old Delhi on these cycle rickshaws. It was such a unique, slow paced way to make our way through the city. I loved that I was able to get off the rickshaw and walk around. Our head sets made it easy to learn and have some context behind what we were seeing. Our drivers and guide were all so kind and welcoming; I can't recommend this experience enough!

Had a great time with Ritu for this experience. The headsets were so appreciated! Even with the crazy hustle and bustle during Diwali I felt so informed and safe. The lunch stop was one of my favorite meals during my entire 10 day trip!

We had a fantastic private tour with When in Delhi. We chose the Spice and Scents tour and enjoyed our trip to the spice market and scent shop with the chance to purchase spices, teas and scents. And also had the opportunity to see all the best of old Delhi. Highlights included a visit to the kitchen of the Sikh temple, climbing the towers at the Jama Masjid and travelling in the rickshaw through the crowded streets. Ahmer was a fantastic guide and gave us lots of time and had a huge amount of local and historical knowledge. We felt very grateful to have such a high quality guide

This tour was an incredible journey through Old Delhi. On a rickshaw, they guided us through the narrow busy streets of shops. We visited the mosque, the Sikh temple where they feed 50,000 per day, and the spice market. The guide Naresh was knowledgeable and friendly and asked permission if we wanted to try the street food...which we did not. Riding on the rickshaw was the best and we appreciated the effort put in by the driver to get us through the streets safely. This was our first day in India and this tour was a wonderful introduction to the city and the people.

Neil was an excellent host. Very knowledgeable! Old Delhi is very chaotic, but charming. Neil was able to answer all our question, both big and small about the area.

Great tour of Old Delhi. Naresh took into account what we'd already seen and showed us loads more sights. The audio headsets work really well for the commentary

This was the highlight of a wonderful holiday in India, matched only by a street food tour in Agra, to get a feel of India for ordinary people. The guide was informative without being dull, bringing the experience to life. The headsets are a fab idea and it’s a shame other guided tours we had also did not use them. We would not have done many things without this tour, from visiting the mosque to the food offering for the poor, that’s for sure! Being on bike rickshaw instead of a noisy, polluting tuctuk felt right too, but I don’t know how the guy managed to pull us through and negotiate all the tight spaces . Just brilliant.

Ritu was the perfect guide for Old Delhi. She clearly knew the city well. Her level of historical knowledge was impressive and she took us to the best places, some hidden away.
She is a gentle kind lady who appreciated the needs of the group.
Our only suggestion to improve the tour would be to have a little more time walking in the very narrow streets of the bazaar,to shop a bit and admire the scenery. It felt unfair to the rickshaw drivers, who actually did an amazing job of negotiating. They must be so strong.

Highly recommend this incredible tour. We could not have chosen a better way to experience Old Delhi. The Rickshaws are definitely the only way to travel and the riders expertly manoeuver about the narrow, teeming streets, safely! Ritu, our guide, could not have been better. Her expert knowledge throughout our tour was so interesting, and as we had headphones, we never missed a word. Don't hesitate to book this tour, you will love every minute!

Had a fantastic time, really got into the vibe of Old Delhi going down the congested sife streets and bazaars.
