It is known as backpacker haven, an administrative sub division under Delhi Municipality and located close to New Delhi railway station. Once it was known as Shahganj, a bazaar area during Mughal rules. It is the home to Delhi's major budget hotels and lodges. The name Pahar probably appears from surrounding hilly landscape of Raisina hills, where the president Palace... More

From cheap clothes to cheap restaurants, this place has it all. It's a must visit for grabbing good bargains. Essentially a large flee market, the less exposed parts of Paharganj offer opportunities for good deals on stuff used by hippies and hipsters. Hand woven woolen jackets and backpacks are available at great prices here. This place has good street-style eateries,... More

Famous for access to railway station and availability of affordable hotels , this place has its own virtues as well as vice. Its bit notorious for robberies and ransacking and is considered unsafe by many tourists as well as the locals, still people on tight budget prefer to come over here.

Paharganj bazaar is a good area to bargain for all variety of tourist type gifts amongst the hectic traffic and street noise. Some shops cater to wholesale pricing for quantity items. For a more true Indian, authentic bazaar, visit the Chandni Chowk area in Old Delhi for even more noise and traffic, where mostly textiles are sold.

A rather hectic area where life never stops. One of the best things to do is to take a horse cart ride from New Delhi train station to the Old Delhi train station. If you're lucky, you get to sit next to the driver where you get to see that amidst all the chaos, the weaving in and out of... More
