About
Aquaterra Adventures is the only Indian company to be rated twice in a row as best adventure travel outfitters on Earth, in a global survey by National Geographic Society, 2008 & 2009. We have been running trips and tours for the discerning traveller throughout the Indian Himalayas since 1995, yet the experience of our travel personnel dates well beyond that, to years of leading trips throughout the Indian Himalayan belt. We believe that an adventure travel outfit is only as good as its guides. Good equipment, food and guides is what makes an outdoor trip an experience to savour.

Me ( Yogada 17 Years ) and my mother joined the Aqua Terra's Fixed Departure of Sham Valley trek in Leh Ladakh from July 29th to 4th August 2022.
This was my first trek and my mother's as well in Leh.
This trek has made me much stronger and made me lean the value of outdoors in life.
From planning to execution every thing is professionally designed and personally taken care of, by Team Aqua Terra.
Hotels & all the camp sites were handpicked keeping you more in nature & rural part of the area. Camping & food was the highlight of the trek and make you experience beyond your imagination.
Today i am a different person after the trek and see the life from a new perspective. I am home and in gratitude to the Universe for guiding me reach Aqua Terra.
Words will make it all very small, the kind of experience i had. Thank you Jittender Rana uncle for making me who I am today.
I recommend this trip to all the parents with teens to make them stronger & understand nature & outdoors.
Vaibhav Uncle now i know what makes you & Aqua Terra the best adventure company on earth.

“Domo Arigato Gozaimasu” (Japanese term) Thank you so very much Aquaterra for I was able to witness the beauty of Great Lakes of Kashmir. After a long wait, I was there in the mountains and was able to soak in the beauty of this heavenly valley.
The trail over these 7 days we covered around 70 kms and it stretched over the soft snow, vast meadows with beautiful iris flowers, lazy river crossings, the pristine alpine glacier lakes and the entire milky way…. It was all there. The deep coloured mountains produced a beating in my heart as though I am meeting an old lover. It was mesmorising. We all soaked into crystal clear deep blue lakes of Vishusar, Kishansar, Gadsar, Nandkhol, Gangbal, Harigandhan.. and after endlesss walking we huffed and puffed our way and crossed the steep incline of Nichani Pass, Gadsar Pass and Zajibal Pass and marvelled at the towering Harmukh Peak which stood right infront of us.
It was a difficult attempt and I must say - Vaibhav , you have a wonderful team (Ranaji, Jeetu, Vikas and Prem) and we all couldn’t have done it any other way. Your team was impeccable. They gave us the much needed confidence. Ranaji briefed us every single day of what was expected the next day.
Climbing across these passes is where one realises ones potential.
There was a lavish spread. Well thought out menu. Nourishing food. Hot lunch during treks was a treat. You have spoilt us, as we name it and it was there. All our needs were taken care of.
While some struggled on the last day descent downward climb of 1200m, I loved the feel of the Deodar and pine trees. I was lost in the dense woods.
Must thank you Vaibhav for our 2 night stay at the houseboats. Shakeel at the “Royal Houseboats” welcomed us warmly into his home and we were able to experience their local food, culture, shikara rides and their religion. It was a perfect way to end. Just loved my stay. Hope I can come back to Kashmir for much more.

This was my second 6,000 M + climb - the first one was Stok Kangri which I climbed 10 years ago! I got into Leh a day ahead of the rest of the group - the extra day in addition to the 2 days always helps with acclimatization. The climb started in wet conditions with a tricky river crossing but there on we had good climbing conditions. I summited at 810 am after a 10 hour slog....! We had a great crew and so much depends on good planning and Vikas our expedition leader did a stellar job and my successful summit was largely due to him and his teams efforts :-).

The trip was very well organised with confident and capable guides who attended to each and every request. The tents were clean and food was finger lickin good!
It was my second trek ever and honestly I had not had time to work on my physical fitness to the level required before I left for the trek. Before we left I was apprehensive about the trip but Mr Vaibhav Kala of Aquaterra assured me that the kindest guide will be on sweep duty and true to his word we were indeed blessed to have Mr Vikas Rana as our guide in the tail end. He ensured us safely doing our trek without hurrying or pressurising us on any count. The majestic mountains and deep ravines did not threaten me as I had the comfort of knowing I was in safe hands.
All in all it was an incredible experience. I am looking forward to more Aquaterra experiences! Thank you Aquaterra for reaffirming to me ‘ I am capable of more than I think and my health is my most valuable asset’ !

The Markha Valley KYII base camp trek was an amazing experience. A thoroughly professional, very warm team took great care to ensure things were just perfect. The food was awesome, the guiding team was superbly expert, and my fellow trekkers were the best people ever! Made some truly enduring friendships. I can’t see myself going with anyone else ever after this experience. Thanks Aquaterra for making it a trek to remember. It was just awesome!

It was my first time with Aquaterra! The trek was very well organised. The guides/kitchen staff were excellent and calm. The food was super and always hot and on time. There were last-minute issues with flights, etc. that were tackled well by the staff. The tents were of good quality and clean. Since I am from Delhi, it was nice to meet different folks from Bombay and the UK. I was also glad the group was limited to 12, making it more manageable during these times.

The Aquaterra team is the Backbone of a good trek/ climb. The guides and support staff are friendly, professional and cooperative! They try to resolve all unexpected problems, whether it is a shoe that comes apart, or the desire for some special food. Supportive throughout, and encouraging on the Steep ascend to the Summit, they exhibited great forbearance!

This was probably the best holiday I have ever had, or certainly in my top 3 (and I have visited over 60 countries) . The Zanskar River and Gorge is one of the most beautiful places on earth, on top of which there are three incredible days of driving through awesome scenery just to get to the start of the river rafting, followed by wonderful rafting and camping days. Plus the Aquaterra team are simply superb in every way - safety and health conscious, fabulous meals and helpful and friendly in every way. If you only do one trip with Aquaterra, do the Zanskar one!

Hi - did you have any prior mountaineering experience for the Stok Kangri trek? I have done EBC and am fit and like you, run marathons etc. But am not a mountaineer but a trekker. Can I do the Stok Kangri trek?
Best wishes,
