We asked our guide to take us to Dilli Haat, everyone said it is THE BEST place to shop. Our guide took us to this multi floor building with VERY high pressure sales at every turn. We questioned the guide that we thought Dilli Haat was suppossed to be an out door market, he acted like he did not know anything about this, which ANY guide in Delhi would know about, so clearly this was a scam to get some percentage of anything we purchased. As this was our first time in India, we did not know any better and took the guide at his word that this was the Dilli Haat everyone spoke of. To be clear the out door Dilli Haat which we later found on our own, IS WONDERFUL. This indoor Dilli Haat Cottage Industries is a scam. We bought a few small figurines and two scarves, which we later realized were grossly overpriced, but it was not until we returned home, that we realized the real scam. We spent about 150.00 U.S. dollars, which we later realized, was already being cheated, but now on our credit card statement is a total charge of 437.00 U.S. dollars! Do not go here, if a guide or taxi driver (a taxi driver did try to take us here later in the visit, lol) turn right around. It is not the market you are looking for.

Delhi Haat Craft Cottage (the indoor shopping complex) is a tourist trap! They charge 4-5 times the actual price of items. If you see this review before buying anything, DONT BUY FROM HERE

The real Delhi Haat is an outdoor complex which our guide conveniently did not take us to. We were brought to Delhi Haat Craft Cottage by our private Tour Guide - Keeper Landwey.

It was the second last stop. Inside there were pushy sales people but there were also signs saying 'fixed price'. However the one thing that really threw me off was our local guide saying that the prices here were good and they he often purchased stuff from here.

Looking back I can tell you that is a straight up LIE from a guide whose pockets were lined by commissions of the shop. We ended up paying an arm and a leg for products that were likely of average quality. If your guide brings you to the indoor Delhi Haat Craft Cottage, he's not a trustworthy person :)

Beware! No matter how wonderful your guide seems, don't trust him when he suggests a place you didn't want to go.I stayed at the Aloft Hotel and they recommended a guide who was wonderful except he took me to Delhi Haat craft store even though I didn't want to go. He explained it had the best supply of crafts in the city, and it was on the way to the hotel. The store does have some beautiful objects but don’t trust their authenticity. It was my fault but I was exhausted and I bought a rug that was supposed to be handmade by Kashmiri weavers; something unique to India. He said he would send information about the family and the design; documentation the rug was one of a kind. I trusted that my guide would take me to an honorable place. He did not send documentation and when I asked for it they sent information about an Iranian rug I tried to clarify and they could not even fake proper documentation. I found other reviews here of cotton machine made rugs sold as silk hand made rugs and even found my rug on ebay for ⅓ the price. I disputed it with the credit card and they showed the back of an invoice I had signed that says no returns for absolutely any reason so the dispute was not honored. I know I should've done my research but I was exhausted. It was the end of the day and I trusted that my guide had taken me to a place that was legitimate. If you do go to this place make sure that you read everything before signing it. While in dispute he offered me $500 for canceling the dispute, but never sent it.

Too expensive.
Like many shops in Delhi: tourist trap and no care for the image and experience they give.

The measurement was wrong, the suits purchased (500$) are too small and poorly designed. The salesmen are very insistent, do not listen, but are very good salesmen because even if everything feels like a scam they manage to make us believe that they are probably better than other shops in Delhi. The best products are located outside of Delhi or in some places where it is better to go with an Indian.

Despite what we are told when we buy suits or other items, there is no after-sales service. Either they don't answer or they propose us to come back to India!

Delhi Haat Craft Cottage Industries is one big multistorey scam. Please be aware that local guides get commission for bringing you to these scam shops.
If you go inside they will parade you from room to room showing you expensive goods and products such as rugs, suits, jewellery, bedsheets, Kashmiri scarfs and much more. Note that everything they show you will be 100% real, but if you buy anything they will swap it out with a sh*ttier version. Also everything is ridiculously overpriced.
The salesman are extremely pushy and will not stop trying to get you to buy anything. If you show even the slightest interest they will pounce on you to buy 1, 2 or even 3 more.
Avoid this place like the plague and save your wallets.

This is not the outdoor market called Dilli Haat. I think the positive reviews here are people thinking this is Dilli Haat. Dilli Haat is wonderful. This place is an absolute scam. Drivers and tour guides are paid to bring tourists here. Please don’t purchase a thing from this place. They pressure you into buying items you don’t want. They have a lot of lovely things, but I have no idea how authentic they are. They are also wildly over priced. They tried to get me to pay $1000usd for a carpet. Stay far far away. If your driver or tour guide tries to bring you to this place, refuse to go.

Purchased beautiful quality vegetable dyed carpets in this unique shop. Great selection of quality merchandise. Sales people are a bit aggressive but this shop has really nice merchandise. Rugs shipped to me in the USA via DHL and arrived in excellent condition and on the promised date.

Awful! Men approach me and as a solo female traveler when I asked them to leave, he has lighted me and said "I was trying to be your friend". I asked him to leave again and he told me to get out......but he approached me. Even sat down at my table where I was eating. Man puctured isn't the one who yelled at me, but still was messy and followed trying to convince for over 30 minutes. I would rather give my business somewhere small than some emporium that buys cheap materials from a sweat shop

We wanted to go to the real Dili Haat but were scammed and taken to the fake Dili haat 95 Shamboo road near the lotus temple. Dont go here. Just walk away as the rickshaw drivers get a commission and the place is dishonest. We bought a number of things including a bedcover for $190 AUD which Carlos who works there said we should have posted as it would save us carrying it. We agreed and when we got back to Australia we received in the mail another bedcover which had holes in the corners as if it had been used as a display piece outside as it also had yellow stains on the back as if it had been wet.

At this stage I have contacted the fraud section of my bank. ( i paid by credit card and have records of the transaction). I also sent my bank copies of all the testimonies on the internet of other people who have been scammed by this place. I had to send the bedcover back as a condition for my bank in trying to get ,my money back . This cost me $50 AUD and I resent that I good willingly picked out a bedcover which was expensive but I was looking forward to receiving it. It is disgusting that this place shows such contempt for tourists to treat them this way. How insulting to send me a piece of crap in the mail that they know i did not choose. We spent money phoning them and they denied everything and then said they would call back and never did.
If I am successful I will receive my money back as my bank is going through Dili Haats bank and not directly dealing with the crooks who burned me.
I urge people to pursue things with their banks if they have had similar issues with Dilli Haat on 95 Shamboo Road or any other bad dealings with similar companies.

There needs to be something done about these businesses who cash in on the name of a popular tourist attraction just so they can carry out their theiving ways.
