My husband and I have been on several of Surekha’s walks in Delhi in 2021. Simply put, she is the best!! We have learned so much about the city (its fascinating history, culture, birds, trees, and more) through her walks. She is extremely knowledgeable and passionate about teaching others. She finds ways of getting us access to hidden gems you won’t learn about in tourist books. We also really appreciate how covid-conscious she is—we’ve never felt unsafe on her tours because she’s extremely protective of everyone in crowds etc. We couldn’t be more grateful for her amazing tours!!

I walked with Surekha today, September 19, 2021 on the Mandi House walk. In Delhi during the 1950’s there was an emergence of art and theatre in culture and in the creation of iconic buildings. With Surekha I learned about where plays, drama, theatre, etc. took place during those festive seasons back in the day and still some today. The walk was pleasant. You don't feel the 4 hours pass (9am - noon). She is so knowledgeable and patient. She answers all of your questions and even comes with suggested reading (books and articles) for her clients. This is my second walk with Surekha. COVID has been the cause of me not doing more. She always has a surprise. Today we saw a 15 century stepwell around the skyscrapers of Connaught Place. I give this walk and Surekha 5 stars again. I can't wait until we meet again. Thank you Surekha.

Though Delhi has been my home for 35 years, I learn something new every time I go on a walk with Surekha, which I have been doing for years. She is a magician at producing little known facts and accessing hidden treasures which are seldom seen. With Surekha I have sat in the Speaker’s Chair in the Delhi Assembly Hall, explored a hidden stepwell at the Red Fort and gone backstage at the Ramayana to meet the actors. I celebrated one birthday on her walk of the Hauz Khas area, which opened my eyes to the monuments and trees in my own "backyard”. For the Durga Puja festival we visited Chittaranjan Park to taste the delicious festival sweets, see the elaborate clay idol figures being made and join in the prayers at the Shiv Mandir. Just before Dussehra we witnessed the construction of the huge effigies along the roadside just outside a metro station in West Delhi. Amazing works of art built out of bamboo and paper, just to be burned! In Chandni Chowk we enjoyed street foods, all previously tried and tested by Surekha, and we bought essential oils from an ancient perfume-maker’s shop. Following Surekha through the maze of messy lanes she revealed the history of Begum Sumru’s Palace and surprised us with the small street of immaculate row houses and temple belonging to the Jain community. Surekha’s passion for her home city and detailed research guarantee that walking with her will enrich your experience of Delhi, whether you have lived here for years or are just visiting for a few days. We had a great day with Surehka! Wandering around the Red Fort, strolling through hidden corners of old Delhi and finally visiting Jama Masjid mosque. Lunch was a tasty delight complete with great views from the rooftop. Surekha knows her stuff, from the metro to mughal history, and her insights bring places alive. Thank you!

Surekha was recommended to me as the best tour guide in Delhi and I could not agree more. I had one day to see the city-she created a custom tour of what interested me most. She brings Delhi alive with her intimate knowledge of the city's historical, architectural, cultural, spiritual and ecological riches. She has so many colorful stories and comes equipped with a notebook of drawings, articles and photos to deepen your experience along the way. Highlights of the tour which included subway, walking and driving: the Qutb Complex where she gives a full history of Delhi's origins, the Nizamuddin Sufi Shrine filled with its color, ceremony and music, Chandini Chowk where we had lunch at a lovely hidden away Haveli, the Jain Temple with its bird sanctuary and meditation room, Jama Majid where we saw relics of Mohammad, British New Delhi with views of the city, shopping at Kashmir Loom, views of other sites and parks along our drive and so much more. She is a wonderful person who clearly loves the city that she grew up in and knows like the back of her hand. I cannot recommend her highly enough!
