Ok so this was booked as part of our tour - the Show I guess was OK quite lively and colourful but uncomfortable / difficult seating - The food - first of all no atmosphere at all in fcat it felt like we were eating in a small open air concrete carpark and the actual food was average.

This was a lovely way to spend an evening in Delhi!

First, the show:
The seating was simple, and not super comfortable, but it was fine. The couches you sit upon are very deep, so you either need to sit up straight at the edge of your seat or recline far, far back into the cushions.

The stage setting was also simple, but it worked for this show. They alternated between dance numbers and short, animated videos that told the history of Delhi. This let them flow from more traditional Kathak dance numbers to a slightly more recent style, and finally to Bollywood-style dance numbers. (It also gave the dancers time to change. They had quite a few quick changes to make!)

The costumes were good, and the dance was wonderful. It's a small dance troupe, and everyone really put their heart into the show. It was wonderful to watch, and they did one audience-participation number near the end that was a lot of fun for everyone.

After the show came dinner:
Dinner is held on a patio outside of the theatre, under some nice, big trees. It was a buffet with a nice variety of Indian dishes, both vegetarian and non-veg. It wasn't a huge buffet, but there were more than enough choices for everyone to more than fill themselves on really good food. We were so full we didn't even try the desserts!

A few things to note:
- There is a parking lot, so parking is incredibly easy
- If you choose to take the metro, there is a station within easy walking distance
- If you don't pay in advance online, they only take cash at the door! So make sure you have enough rupees with you. And they will charge you the higher rate of 3500 rupees per person instead of the regular price of 3000.
- At dinner, water is the only drink included. Soda and alcohol cost extra.

All in all, it was a lovely evening, and I'm very glad we went!

The evening commences with a cultural history of New Delhi performance in the small theatre with animated anecdotes of history and dance performances. Starting from the first documented ruler of Delhi, Prithwi Raj Chauhan, tracing the journey of Bhakti Movement through Sufism, followed by a stylized form of Kathak for the Mughal Courts, Tarana, ending in Bollywood. The performances by the beautiful dancers in tradional costumes showcase the history and spirit of Delhi. The performance is followed by an Al Fresco BBQ dinner at the Angare Restaurant next door.
