At the main entrance I was asked for a bag inspection by the one security guard sitting down. He told me I couldn’t bring my digital camera in despite numerous people with backpacks walking in straight past us (one holding a huge tripod!) He said we’d have to wait 15mins so his superiors could leave before we went in or leave the camera in his shack (I wouldn’t as it’s expensive!) Frustrating and embarrassing as he didn’t ask another single soul for a bag search in that time despite us pointing to people. Google says this is a great photography spot as well so I don’t know if this guy was just looking for some kind of tip?? Even an Indian by-passer was on our side but the security guy wouldn’t budge. Did manage to get in after the 15mins wait with my camera. Beautiful place, golden jackals abound, and one dumb security guard

What a perfectly peaceful place to walk in nature while surrounded by the large city. Many, many birds to find plus cool morning air. For the nature lovers, I highly recommend. Be sure to walk up to the top of the wall for a panoramic view of the city.

Spread across nearly 800 acres near Vasant Kunj, Sanjay Van is a green, raw stretch of forest. Dirt paths, most of them several feet wide and well-maintained, snake across the forest. You can walk here, or cycle through: no motorized transport is allowed. Even the golf-cart style vehicles used by the local forest officers to move around the forest are eco-friendly.

We spent almost two hours here, walking between the trees, birdwatching (we saw and heard lots of species, including barbets, babblers, peafowl, woodpeckers, and lots of butterflies and other insects. The butterflies, especially, were worth it all.

Sanjay Van is really large, so you could spend the entire day here and still not see all of it. But even a couple of hours here is a good respite from the bustle and din of the city outside. Note that since this is a reserve forest and not your typical city park, there are no facilities for food and drink inside (though there are toilets near the gate). Bring your own packed food and bottled water, and remember to use the dustbins provided here and there to dispose of any waste.

Definitely, a heaven for Delhites who literally fight everyday with bad air and noise pollution. This area has a very dense forest which serves a heaven for various birds and animals. There are designated tracks for joggers and cyclists to follow. The park is even equipped with exercise equipment for people to use.
If you are coming here to experience nature, come in the morning. You have good changes to spot resident birds like Oriental Magpie- Robin, Indian Robin, House Sparrows, Eurasian Dove, Green Parrots, Jungle Babblers, Peacocks, Rufous Treepie. Among Animal kingdom, I managed to spot foxes who will be seen wandering around near the track, deers, wild pigs, etc.
I didn't experience any security concerns at all. I found people in the park very helpful. There is a PCR police inside/ around premises to avert any mishappening. People looked to be well behaved except some young people who were playing loud music inside the park. We need to appreciate the fact that this is a forest and not a picnic spot. Also, please don't bring food inside and leave your plastic wastes inside.

Nice green area, maintenance is slightly dodgy.
The herbal gardens are well maintained. Stray dogs abound, though most were friendly.
Walking paths are well marked and relatively clean.
Tips: Bring packed water. Wear sensible sport shoes. Water full sleeved shirts/full pants as lots of sharp weeds and leaves are there.
Line of dhabas outside the vasant kunj gate, u can satiate the appetite worked up inside.

To experience a little bit of what nature has to offer then Sanjay van won’t disappoint you! Full of peacocks, small streams, goats, dogs, pigs, birds, squirrels and if you might get lucky you may even with an antelope (Indian blue bull).
This forest also has open air gymnasiums on each of their exits which is a real treat! You must try and get a workout! A good place for your mountain bike or even just to jog or walk with your friends or family. Sanjay van also has a medicinal forest that one can explore if that interests you.

Sanjay Van is located near Qutub Minar on Aruna Asaf Ali Marg. It is a much needed piece of greenery amid of world's highest polluted city Delhi. When the city is gasping for oxygen, it is providing with some fresh air to its visitors and people staying nearby. Lots of people comes here for morning or evening walk, running n exercise. It has ruins of original lal quila which was built by Prithwiraj Chauhan. It also has its diverse flora n fauna which is truly a mind refresher. Last but not the least, it is also one of the most haunted places in Delhi.

The dirt trails and plentiful shade of Sanjay Van make it among the best places to run and stroll in Delhi. One can easily string together a 5-10km run out of the various looping trails. A quiet, peaceful place. Unlike other parks, I've never had problems with monkeys here. There are some dogs but they're totally calm.
