What an experience with Delhi by Locals! We had two days in Delhi prior to heading to Sri Lanka, and were able to do multiple tours with Pradeep in March 2020. This was right when things began to shut down due to the pandemic but the time spent in India was the highlight of the whole trip. We did a day at the Taj Mahal and Agra fort where we took the train and were met by our guide who took us all around. There were less crowds than usual given everything happening, which gave us room to explore the grounds and experience the majesty of the place. The second day was spent in Old Delhi and experiencing the slums. We got to see the spice market, a service at the Sikh temple, traveled the underground, drank chai and stumbled on a Bollywood filming. At the slums it was amazing seeing the work that Pradeep does with Learning by locals and getting to meet the students and all the kids so willing to practice their English with us. We got to experience the history, culture and human connection that I feel is at the heart of any great trip. I would highly recommend any experience offered by Pradeep and Delhi by Locals.

For those of us fortunate enough to travel extensively, there usually comes a point when you realize you’ve seen a lot of cities and met many residents but you don’t really KNOW anything about them. You have email addresses and photos but don’t feel a genuine connection with anyone you’ve met or anyplace you’ve seen. My tour of the Sanjay Colony slum with Pradeep of Delhi by Locals was the first time I felt that connection. I’ll only take off-the-beaten-path tours in the future and hope to make that meaningful connection again. Thank you, Pradeep and Delhi by Locals.

What a day we spent with Pradeep! He met us at the hotel. He hailed a tut tut and with a cry of "there's always more room in India" the three of us crammed into the back seat. We went to the large Sikh Temple and we are actually allowed to help out in the kitchen making food for up to 40,000 who visit each day. Then, we visited the most amazing well, hidden deep up a small side street. I won't describe this spectacle as it would spoil the surprise - suffice to say it stunned us into silence as as much as the Taj Mahal! We then went to Old Delhi and this was just beyond words. The noise, the chaos, colours, delicious smells. We visited the spice market and Pardeep took us up onto the roof where we took some awesome photos. We ate street food and tried all sorts - lovely. We even went below street to check out how folk used to live. We came back to New Delhi using the underground and visited the Palace and India Gate. It was an awesome, exhausting, exhilarating day that we will remember forever. Pradeep is knowledgeable, enthusiastic about his city and has so much energy. Our day was non-stop action and his humor ket us laughing throughout the day. Delhi is not how westerners portray it. The people are incredible. We felt extremely safe throughout and would return in a heartbeat. Thanks Pradeep - don't ever change.
