visited this building as part of the tour of the rock. A featureless concrete nuclear bunker built by the Chinese or the Japanese, not sure which, in which blck and white A4 size photographs adorn the featureless concrete walls. There is a model of the rock in a glass display case showing the top of the rock, which, as I... More

The museum price is included in your entry to the site. After heading in it is over to the right hand side. A large building but it is not filled to the rafters. There is lots of information though and nice to read up on this before you go and do the climb.

Houses a huge collection of photographs describing the states of the ruins at the time of discovery and subsequent restoration processes. Collection of artefacts are very few. But the replica of the wall paintings of original rock fortress is worth mentioning. Overall an okay experience.

the museum is near the ticket counter and even though not a must-visit, its worth-visit as you can gather information about Sigiriya.

I dont know how this place can be so run down after opening less than 10 years ago! Clearly none of the $30 sigiriya entrance fee invested here. Gloomy throughout and no aircon. Water features (presumably replicating the grand water gardens) left to clog up with algae. Dogs and monkeys roaming free However, some useful bits of info to be... More

Worth visiting the museum whilst walking up Sigiriya rock and gardens as its included within your entrance fee to the site. It tells you how the treasurers of the rock were re found by a British General whilst the country was under British colonial rule in the 18th century, it also gives valuable information on the era that the king... The museum have the structure of normal museum but it's lacking the essentials of that kind of a building... considering the great history of Sigiriya.. the museum only has the fraction of it....
