Very nice area...about 35 to 40 minutes to walk around. Several good hotels and one end at city center. Cleaner than most water in this part of the world.

The lake is the central feature of Kandy around which all other sights and areas are distributed. It's a marvelous sight with the Queen's pavilion on the shore, the small island in the middle and the mountains in the background. Nice stroll along the shore from the sights around the Temple of the Tooth to the city centre with shops... More

It was a lake between the hills & in the center of the town. Location of the lake was unique. The road around the lake offers a contrast between the hustle bustle of the town & the calmness of lake.

From conversations with our host the traffic is a relatively new thing, at least at the current level. The path around 3/4 of the lake is effectively a raised pavement beside a very busy road. The odd pelican and a few cormorants ply their trade in the muddy waters to one side accompanied by the constant sound of car, bus... More

We took a quick stroll after our visit to the temple. Perhaps we did not plan the timing of the visit well - it seems more pleasant in the evenings - but this is not a place we would make special plans to visit.

This lake is at the foot of the Kandy Tooth Temple and its nice to walk around. The fishes inside are holy for the locals and you can see a lot more wild animals. Cool place!

This is right next to the Temple of the Tooth. At night you can see a large Buddha statue reflecting off the water. Very nice. This is something you can do if you are already planning to visit the temple.
