I had my heart set for buying a Ceylon sapphire whilst in Sri Lanka, and our tour guide recommended this place. The shop is very respectable. You start your visit by watching a film on the mining of gemstones in Sri Lanka, then the manager (Mr Sunil) walks you to the main showroom upstairs. The designs and quality of the... More

Nice little museum part and a educational area to it and of course a great area to buy your sapphire too. Not to pushy staff too

As part of our tour to the Kandy area we visited this attraction. We watched the film of how gemstones are still mined in Sri Lanka and looked at the mock up of the mine in the showroom. Really quite interesting and informative, especially when told that the reason traditional methods endure is so as not to flood the market... More

Firstly let me say I am very ignorant when it comes to gems, I know what I like when it comes to jewellery however I do not have the knowledge to discuss quality. Enjoyed the introductory film showing how the gems were mined, then looked in the show rooms, beautiful rings etc. I didn't see anything that I really liked... More

We highly recommend a visit to the Lakmini showroom, to see quality gemstones, designs and excellent workmanship. Tiesh is the brand name Lakmini use for their European market. For this reason you will see quite a broad range of designs in the showroom from traditional to more avant garde ( experimental and innovative). Ask to see the rings that flip... More

An interesting and informative store with the movie of the history of gem mining and getting a feel for working in their mines. The shop is lovely and it is great to see all the different gems on display, the colours are dazzling and you will have no problem finding someone to help you. I would rate it excellent for... More

This is one of the premier mining and marketing companies for gems in Sri Lanka. Their 8 min documentary on mining of gems and diamonds was very informative. Nice collection of precious stones and jewellery if one wants to indulge in spending

They have a nice selection of gems and jewelry but based what I have purchased in Thailand I believe they are quite over priced. I would skip this unless your keen on buying.
