One could see many gray coral-stone stupas - the ruins which were discovered in 20th century AD. This site presently maintained by the Sri Lanka Army.

Interesting place if you can find it and get there, it’s not far out of the city but rather rural when you do get there with nothing else there. Interesting for a wander around for half an hour as you won’t need anymore time than that. Free to enter. Worth a look if your in Jaffna to see the ruins of the monks graves.

An ancient Buddhist temple, now is an archeological site. You can see a collection of stupa here. It is said that those are built as tombstones for 50 odd supreme monks who attained nirvana after getting a food poisoning. If you are a Buddhist definitely should visit this place.

Our guide insisted we visit and we were not sorry. Most unusual and have never seen this in any of the sacred sites! Some doubt over what they really represent, so a commentary and brochure would have been nice. Was informed that there is dispute between the forces and the Archaeological custodians- Why and to what purpose?

We visited this heritage site in December 2019 and were fascinated by the dome type stupas. There are many versions of the history behind these monuments and it would be helpful if more information in available on site about the history of this place.

We visited the stupas or domes in January 2019 as we passed through Jaffna. It is free to visit the stupas and there is some echo of the recent civil war through the presence of troops nearby. However, there is a peace abounding around the area and it is fascinating to see the 2000 year old memorials to priests who supposedly poisoned themselves. There is also a chanting status of Buddha to admire and beautiful trees as well to conjure up the cool peace of the area.
