This is one of eight monasteries I visited during my tour in Fruska Gora. I had a rental car/ I arrived to the monastery around 300 pm. There were many school students visiting the monastery. A large Serbian flag is at the entrance and it seems to me that the monastery has a very high historical value to the Serbians. In fact, the Prince Lazar was buried here from 1697 through 1941. His body is now buried at Ravanica and this is why the Vrdinik monastery is called little Ravanica. When I visited, the monastery was recently restored. The iconostasis is spectacular! The frescoes in the roof are beautiful. The walls have a few frescoes and they are also very nice. The monastery was not ruined during WWII; however, it was looted. The church is white and dedicated to Saint John the Baptist. It is surrounded by walls. You can take pictures.

During my visit, I was alone. The student already left. It was peaceful.

Vrdnik-Ravanica Monastery is one of some orthodox places in Fruska Gor National Park, in Vojvodina Region, in Northern Serbia. It was built about 16th Century, the real date is unknown, but it was totally reconstructed at the beginning of 19th Century. Nowadays (we visited this place in November-2019) it is totally under construction, so you can only can see works in all buildings, because they need to be repaired. However, we could see the main church on works thanks to staff, thank you!

Peaceful, nicely maintained, but, unfortunately, the main church is under construction. So, the entrance in the church is prohibited.

We were honestly expecting more, we have visited few nearby monesteries prior to this one and although we not very religious couple, we agreed that when visiting others we both felt some sort of calmness and peace and humbleness. At Vrdnik monastery we did not feel any of that. Priest drives super fancy car parked at the gate, inside the monastery garden there is Smart for two car parked on the beautiful green grass, in the church there is a tombstone (no tomb) funded by someone's mother etc. Everything about it seems it is about money. Pretty building and fruit yard but not a pretty feeling.

If you are near the Monastery go and by honey if you can not find the better reason.

If you are in Vrdnik you should definitely spare some time to visit this Monastery. There are a lot of monasteries in this area, but this one is really easy to find and aproach. There is a parking lot in front of the monastery which is nice as well.

Beautiful paintings, chandeliers, full of character ... It's a must see while in Brdnik.. They also have their anisotropic saints day carnival in July each year... They are very welcoming to the guests of the Monestry. King Lazar was buried there for 500 years but they have moved him to a more secure sitex😇

Drugi put smo posetili manastir i oba puta sam osetio smirenost u dvorištu i u crkvi.

Ukoliko ste na Fruškoj gori, lepo je posetiti ga.

We were second time in monastery and both time felt calm in the monastery yard and church.

If you visit Fruska gora, recommended to visit.
