As squares go in Peru, this would not be my favourite. It lacks atmosphere and can be quite noisy because of the constant traffic all around the square. It is surrounded by banks (as opposed to cafés or shops) which also takes from it being a relaxing or enjoyable space.

This market square is almost identical to all other matket squares in Peru. So if you have seen kne, you have seen them all. This one ix surrounded by a few decent restaurants so not bad in its own.

It's not a main attraction but you walk past it going to hiking stores and finding a menu del dia. It's pretty enough...

If you can find a spot to sit, its a nice, clean, safe area to chill out and watch the town do it's thing.

Plaza de Armas is located in the center of Huaraz and is a convenient spot to meet and/or to sit for a few minutes before heading to the Artisan's market across the street. It's not a spectacular plaza but mostly clean and safe.

This plaza is not really that special. Looks nice but a bit boring to spend your time there. Seen better and it could be better. To me there is a lack of atmosphere but I use it a reference point to know where I am.

We visited the plaza as we were trying to kill sometime acclimatising in Huaraz. The plaza is OK. We have seen much better on our travels in South America. It's alright to chill in if your have time to kill but not much else.

The best bit about Huaraz is not the town itself. Whilst the Plaza de Armas probably passes as one of the nicest parts of the town, it is hardly worthy of being considered an attractive destination. The Plaza itself contains a half-built church that the locals don't believe will ever be completed (and the more superstitious believe that by doing... More

All I can say is that it's just a square. There are lots better ones in South America. Interesting that most of the photos of the square are taken from neighboring buildings, not ground level to make it look more interesting.

Small and quiet compared to other bustling plazas de armas in other Peruvian cities (Lima, Trujillo). However, a perfect starting point for daily excursions, as all the tour companies are located right next to it.
