Alexis Galleries has got to be one of the most fantabulous galleries I've ever had the pleasure of visiting in my life! 😍 This amazing place is so much more than a just a simple, straightforward art gallery. It's also a souvenir shop, an arts & craft shop, a bookshop, a cultural shop, a historical shop, and so much more. I simply cannot emphasize how incredible this place is! It's also conveniently located at the end of a quiet street in Victoria Island, and very easy to find. There's a food eatery on the second floor called Art Cafe. Upon arrival, I was overwhelmed by a 'kaleidoscope' of festive colours, bold artistry and lots of other vibrant imagery by the main entrance. There seemed to be 'a lot' going on, but it really 'gelled' well and made the place extremely attractive and eye-catching. Such an aesthetically pleasing sight to behold! You began to encounter Alexis Gallery's artwork even before you enter the building. Please refer to some of the pictures I posted. I met ADA at Alexis Galleries, and she was very pleasant and helpful. She told me that the gallery was named after the owner's daughter; how adorable! 😚 Apart from what seemed like an art shop behind the main door, there was also a back room that solely had art work on the wall.

Alexis Galleries 'incomparable' collection comprises of, (but is not limited to): RAFFIA BASKETS, ANCESTRAL HORNS, EMBROIDERY, BENIN/IFE BRONZE HEADS, TRADITIONAL TAPESTRY, PATRIOTIC SOUVENIRS, STUFFED TOY ANIMALS, POTTERY, METAL SCULPTURES, HISTORICAL KNICK KNACKS, TIE DYE SOUVENIRS, AFRICAN COLLECTIBLES, CARVED STONES, INCENSE STICKS, HOUSEHOLD ORNAMENTS, UNIQUE CERAMICS, HAND-PAINTED SILVERWARE, FRIDGE MAGNETS, LOCALLY PRODUCED HAND BAGS/PURSES/DUFFEL BAGS, TEXTILED KEEPSAKES, NIGERIAN MEMORABILIA, WIRE ART STRUCTURES, CULTURAL DRUMS, ASHTRAYS, IRONWORK, AFRICAN WOOD SCULPTURES, BAMBOO ACCESSORIES, LOCALLY MADE THROW PILLOWS, GLASSWARE, CLAY SCULPTURES OF FORMER NIGERIAN HEADS OF STATE, HAND-PAINTED HANDICRAFTS, OSTRICH FEATHER ITEMS, LOCAL & MODERN LANTERNS, COLORFUL CUPS, ETHNIC CALLIGRAPHY, WOVEN MATS, REGIONAL MUSICAL INSTRUMENTS, TRADITIONAL CLAYPOTS, HAND-WOVEN BAGS, COPPER ALLOY SCULPTURES & STRUCTURES, BOOKS ON NIGERIAN HISTORY, COW-HIDE KEEPSAKES & BAGS, HAND FANS, AFRICAN WOOD SCULPTURES, HAND-CRAFTED CARVINGS, BRASS MASKS, METAL/COPPER ORNAMENTS, STYLIZED WOOD CARVINGS, KEYHOLDERS, BEADED JEWELRY: (NECKLACES, TRINKETS, CORAL BEADS & BRACELETS), STATUES OF BUDDHA, FAUX IVORY HORNS, ART COFFEE BOOKS, BRONZE CASTINGS, STORAGE BOXES/CONTAINERS, BEADWORK, WOODEN FIGURINES (HUMAN & ANIMAL), NOK POTTERY HEADS, HAND-MADE ETHNIC DOLLS, IVORY CARVINGS, TRADITIONAL HANDICRAFTS and so many more amazing items! I don't think I've even 'scratched the surface' of some of the most wonderful things you can find at Alexis Galleries!

As if all the incredible items that I listed above weren't enough, Alexis Galleries also has a truly impressive collection of art work- (mostly displayed in that room out back that I previoulsly mentioned). They had such varied 'artistic expressions' here, including LANDSCAPES PAINTINGS, WATERCOLOR CANVASES, CONTEMPORARY PAINTINGS, GOUACHE (OPAQUE WATERCOLOR MEDIUMS), SAND ART, ACTION PAINTINGS, WOODEN COLLAGES, FIBRE GLASS ART, SURREALIST PAINTINGS, ABSTRACT ART, STILL LIVE PAINTINGS, CONCEPTUAL ART, DRIP PAINTINGS, PHOTOREALISTIC WORKS, AFRO-CENTERED MURALS, SPRAY PAINTINGS, GRAFFITI ART, HYPER-REALISTIC STILL LIVE PAINTINGS, MIXED MEDIA ARTWORK, PORTRAITS OF ANONYMOUS PEOPLE, CUBIC ART, ETC!

Alexis Galleries is 'one hell of a place' where no matter what your taste or art preference is, you'll no doubt find something that appeals to you. I was so overwhelmed and mesmerized by this awesome shop/gallery that I couldn't even settle on what to buy! 🤩 I ended up purchasing 3 Fridge Magnets, some of which I collect. It's unfortunate that I had to rush off to the airport when I visited Alexis Galleries, otherwise it's somewhere that I can see myself spending a lot of time in. Perhaps I could then proceed upstairs to the Art Cafe- take a break, have lunch, then come back down and continue exploring this cultural, artistic wonder! I'd like to visit and take my time going through all the spectacular stuff they have when I visit Lagos again by the special grace of Almighty God! 🙏🏽 I honestly cannot say enough nice and positive things about this place, only that y'all should check it out. I want to say a big thank you to ADA for her courteous and professional demeanor. This has got to be the absolute best 'fusion' of arts & craft/gallery under a single roof that I've ever visited......like ever!👍🏽 I just can't wait to come back! Alexis Galleries is a phenomenal place, and you cannot do better than here in terms of art galleries, as far as I'm concerned. It's your one-stop shop for beautiful art and a wide array of African and Nigerian traditional/cultural accessories, collectibles, keepsakes, handicrafts, knick-knacks and memorabilia. ALEXIS GALLERIES IS ABSOLUTELY SPECTACULAR, 📣 so come one- come all!!! I highly, highly, highly recommend it! 👏🏽👍🏽👏🏽👍🏽

So I didn't realise there was a Gallery at the back of Art Cafe until last month. It's very very nice. The owner of Art Cafe is super sweet and he let us have a mini shoot at the Gallery which is owned by his wife. Check out the pictures on my Blog, Tuke's Quest. The post is called "Fun Times with Sharon".

Always arts on display. Very often organised exhibitions. There is a shop with art and crafts to buy in front. And also a nice cosy coffee shop to drink and snack surrounded with beautiful arts.
