We enjoyed a great camel trek from here out into the Sahara and it was a wonderful experience. The trek was slow and beautiful through the sand dunes and the sky was the most amazing blue colour I have seen. The guides were friendly and we enjoyed a great night of music and feasting in our Berber tents. It was... More

It's hard to find a place in the desert without lots of tourists (I guess you need a camel ride of a few days) but Merzouga is a great place to go to enjoy the desert. Can be cold in January

Beautiful but cold in winter. Worth going on top of a larger dune for sunset/sunrise views. Take extra cloths if you plan to sleep there.

On a 4x4 we drove from Marrakech to Merzouga with a few stops inbetween (Atlas Mountains, Ait Benhamou, M'Hamid). When we finally arrived on the second day after many hours of driving we were just stunned. We spent the whole day in the little desert camp exploring the infinitey of the desert, we sandboarded, of course did some camel riding.... More

Our four wheel drive Nissan crossed the desert to the golden colored dunes. A quick change to a camel and we were on the way to the crest of a high dune in order to watch the sunset. Clear skies limited the colors but it was still a fun experience. The cameliers charge, of course. And they will make a... More

The silence of the desert is overpowering. The sunset with all that beautiful colours was amazing. The night was so hot that I slept in the terrace, under a fantastic dark but full of stars sky.
