Looking at Ait Benhaddou from the hill across the river, astonishing. It should't be there, what a travel across time. None of the Giza Pyramids, Machu Picchu or Chichen Itza felt so unreal, or too real, with the oasis, the valley and river, the whole setting is just astonishing. There is a bridge, but better jump over the sandbags to... More

Ait Ben Haddou is a must see when in Morocco. Walking to the top of the hill you can see how this can be a film set. The views from the top are stunning. Make sure you go down to the river for a photo of the entire place.

Despite the far location I recommend to add it to any Morocco visit. This old giant fortress and village build from mud is impressive. Several families are still living there with their livestock. Great view from the top of the hill. The place was location for many movies. If you want to buy any souvenir, bargain!

It took 3 hours from Dades Gorge to AitBen-Haddou by car (Through Ouarzazate, and can see Taourirt Kasbah and several studio, CLA andAtlas studio). Ksar of ait-ben-haddou is UNESCO world heritage site and people are living there still. Personally think this is better than the film studios, CLA, Atlas. In October we could easily cross the river and get to... More

Had a great guide to give me a great tour of the Ksar. It has a great view and it's amazing how many movies have been filmed here.

And indeed it is, being famous for a lot of movies being shot here. The location is absolutely amazing and it's interesting how preserved it is, since the material from which is built is not that strong. During dry season, the valley can be crossed easily to enter this beautiful Ksar, with amazing small streets. Of course, lots of shops... More

Ait Ben Haddou is a place in which to walk slowly. Sit down. Just relax and feel yourself go back in time. I loved the wind. Be kind to some residents and they'll let you into their homes. Buy a few trinkets. Relax.

Once you get passed the relatively short street of shops, the walk through the Ksar is magical. You really feel transported back in time, to another place. We had a local guide who took us to his family home in the Ksar, which was an interesting and definitely off-the-beaten-path experience. So glad we stopped here!

Really amazing to see a Ksar as it would have been 1000 yrs ago. Shame the inhabitants have largely left now. Do stop jn an artist studio and watch them bring a lifeless tea, saffron and indigo drawing to life over an open flame. Pure magic. This place is the setting for many movies from Lawrence of Arabia to Gladiator... More
