Great chance to see the sea turtles laying eggs and releasing the babies. There are strict rules around the photography but they staff try hard to make sure everyone has a chance to see mom and the babies. Snorkeling during the day is ok...looking out from the beach stay to the right. Equipment can be rented onsite.

On the positive side, it is a conservation project. Food adequate, coffee & tea terrible! Rooms beds quite OK It was the tail end of the monsoon (early March) so the beach was horrible and wet rained all afternoon (heavy and light drizzle) There was no alternative except beach or bed for the afternoon, even the reading materials were Scandinavian... Watching a huge turtle lay 74 eggs on the beach is out of this world! A highlight of our stay in Sandakan that's for sure. BUT be prepared for the day! You head out at 9:30am and there is nothing to do once you get there other than lie on the beach and swim (so hopefully it's a nice day!)... More

Great stop to see the nesting turtles. A very beautiful experience. The group sizes can vary greatly, it might have been better in a smaller group. Nice snorkeling in the area too

Reading through the reviews and the feedback on this place especially in lonely planet we were very dubious about booking this. we were actually presently surprised and the park exceeded our expectations. I do think that were were lucky whilst visiting and can potentially see why some people may not be happy with the experience. Our guide was very good,... More

A beautiful island a lovely lodge excellent tour guide and seeing turtles hatch or scurry on the shore is a delight to see ... However a police escort at all times due to the past kidnaps by pirates a few years ago made us feel safe yet uncomfortable.. worth a visit ...

While I totally respect what they are doing here to protect the green turtles, there were several things I wish I had known before booking this trip. 1. December is a down month. We saw 1 turtle lay eggs 2. You have to stay up until almost midnight to catch a glimpse of the turtles coming to shore 3. The... More

I came here with my nieces and nephew and we absolutely loved it. I organised the trip directly with Crystal Quest and everything ran very smoothly. We stay in the Four Points hotel which is a 10 minute taxi ride to the jetty so we could get there early. We left at 09:30 and had a very smooth departure. Everything... More

I'm going to say this is an amazing experience just like the others have said. A must-see if you are in Sandakan. Note that Crystal Quest is the only officially appointed booking agency. When booking with a tour company, they are simply re-selling the tickets. The difference is that the agencies will sell at more than double the price, but... More
