Facilities are a bit basic but staff are really passionate about their conservation work and doing amazing things. We saw a green turtle laying eggs as well as the release of around 50 hatchlings. Both of these experiences happen most nights of the year.

We had an absolute ball at Turtle Island. I recommend that you book through Crystal Quest Tours, which is roughly a 10min walk from the centre of Sandakan. This seemed to be the significantly cheaper option compared to booking through the hotel or tour operators....More
