This wonderful place can be reached by tuk tuk, car or boat and definitely I recommend the trip by boat, both the public one or hiring (bargain recommended as you can get 50% less the initial price) a small private boat. It takes around two...More

Well not quite, the third member of the trip was my guide. A two hour trip up the mighty Mekong, One and a half hour return, just shows you the speed of the currant. A very pleasant way to spend the morning and the caves...More

I think long boat ride upstream from Luang Prabang to the Pak Ou cave was beautiful. The caves themselves were underwhelming.

Enjoyed the nice, leisurely boat ride (about 2 hours) on Mekong River with view of small villages along the river bank. We got the boat to ourselves due to low season (rainy season). The Upper and Lower Caves were not that impressive as the Lower...More

We visited the caves enroute to Kamu Lodge and this was fine but I wouldn't be doing it as an individual trip. It is very busy with tourists and there is not a lot to see. The best part was the boat ride there and...More

It took us more than 2 hours to reach two caves - upper and lower ones - by boat along the Mekong River. It was such a peaceful activity and easy to do. You don't need to buy tickets through travel agents. Simply walk along...More

Took a two hour boat cruise to the caves and a one hour return journey to Luang Prabang. Highlight was the actual boat ride on the mighty Mekong. We started at 2pm from LP and purposely set the timing to see the sunset on the...More

The best thing about the caves with 4000 Buddha's is the cruise along the Mekong to get there. There are around 200 steps to reach the second cave. And the jetty can be a bit treacherous when wet. If you are interested in the Laos...More

When the cave was discovered by an explorer in the 1800s I doubt he was thinking what a cool tourist trap. When thousands of devout Buddhists leave their favorite old Buddha figurines in what they consider to be a holy place it's not to trap...More

We loved the ride up the Mekong to get here. The caves are cool and eery. I think it's worth the trip, but it depends on what you're into.

I didn't go for Kayaking as flow of river was strong. But there is public transport ferry that leaves at 8.30 am every morning from main Pier. To and fro Charges are 60000 LAK per person.
