This temple is unique. Located below the surface covered by water. The view is stunning as well as the park. It is easy to access just next to the road

I am Yoga Efendi, a traveler from Yogyakarta. My guest from Holland and I were so lucky last month because there was a Hindu ceremony there.

Mostly this temple is quite and no ceremony. Ceremony like this is very good in my opinion.

Very worth it trip in Trowulan.

It’s a nice small area and temple but when in the area you might as well see them all. It looked like an old bathing spot.

The Tikus temple ruins are very nicely landscaped, and it's really neat to be able to climb down the stairs to near the actual pool itself. I had a relaxing and peaceful time here, and would recommend these ruins to others.

Visited here with Family for the second time to feel the atmosphere and the positive energy. Good place to educate your children regarding the local history and culture

If you come here in the morning, it'll be fine. But if you come here in the noon or afternoon, the temperature is too hot and there's only one or two places to take shelter there. The rest is fine, only the temperature that disturbs me.

After the museum we stopped at Candi Tikus, a nice but small Majapahit royal bathhouse of terracotta dated to the 13th or 14th century.

The temple is located in a beautiful little garden / park. During our stay, our teenage daughter was heartily greeted by small local girls offering her gifts (small paper clippings) - while all of us were invited to have lunch with the local gardeners working on the premises.

In early 1900 local farmers were fighting rat problems and traced it to a huge dirt mound that served as the rats’ nest.

During this excavation the ancient bathhouse was discovered - it then earned its name:

Candi = Temple
Tikus = Rats

Being a historical traveller, I am astonished with this complex structure during those days. The Candi Tikus appeared on Indonesian TV channel Trans 7 , "Dua Dunia" as one of the place with paranormal activities.

The most convenient and cheapest way to get to the site is by Uber. Costs about Rp190,000 from Surabaya city centre. I hung out about 1 hour at the museum, paid the entrance fee of Rp5,000 and then spent about an hour more at Candi Bajang Ratu and Candi Tikus. Overall costs me just Rp500,000 to and fro with Uber without any hassle. Beats riding a bus or taking a taxi.

Once used as a place for performing ritual cleansing/bathing before entering a long destroyed temple complex, the sunken pools with center structure are still stunning. Discovered by the Dutch it's name is a reference to the Titus (rats) that had over run the site. Still holds pools of water. No shade. Worth visiting if you are checking out other Trowulan area sites
