Return from Vung Tau to Ho Chi Minh by boat, we arrived an hour before departure and the place was almost deserted, then the cash register opened and a few people arrived. There were only around twenty of us on this return to the city and the trip was very pleasant. It is possible to go on the rear gangway of the boat during the journey which allows you to have a very good view, better than behind dirty windows, however the boat is very noisy and the fuel vapors are very unpleasant so for To enjoy the "cruise" in the back, you should remember to take earplugs and a surgical mask for the fuel vapors.
Arrival in Ho Chi Minh is in the city center, a taxi costs a maximum of 300,000 VND (12€) to the airport.
Weekends are generally busy in Vung Tau so for those who have time it is preferable to travel opposite the population so arrive on a Sunday afternoon or Monday and leave on a Friday.

A well kept secret. An excellent and inexpensive day trip from Saigon by public ferry down the Saigon river to Vung Tau.
About a 2 hour trip each way, wending through high rise buildings to swamp areas and finally across the open sea to Vung Tau.
The fast ferry gets along a a good high speed in confort.
The cost is approx 200000 dong each way.
We found it a great day trip

We have experienced both heading to vung tau and our choice is definitively greenlines. The boat is more comfortable and modern even if it's a little bit more expensive than vinaexpress

The best way to travel from Vung Tau island to Ho Chi Minh City is via the hydrofoils (fast-ferries). Just recently all ferries have been refurbished.
Both Vina and Petro companies share the ferry timetable.
The ferry service is reliable, fast an a pleasant experience.
There is no better way to see the Saigon river than on a ferry ride.
There are seven ferries which leave from Vung Tau every day. The first at 8am, and the last at 6:30pm.
I always by my ferry tickets one day BEFORE my intended trip.
There are drinks and light snack available on the ferry.
Large bags have to be stored in the separate baggage room (at a small additional cost).
The ferries take exactly one and a half hours to do the trip.
Take a camera.

Be sure to get a ticket up front as it is air conditioned. The ferry is the quickest and easiest way to get to Vung Tau.

To save time we went on the ferry called Hydrofoil Express and it only took 1.5hrs. Cost per ticket was 250,000 dong for adults and 125,000 for children (approx $13 and $7). The ferry ride on the way over was rough. A few people vomiting and myself feeling queasy for an hour afterward but it was still worth it in time. I would rather spend the 1.5hours on a boat than go in a coach for 2.5hours and be dictated by the tour times. We ended up having a meal in Lucys Sports bar across the road from the ferry in Vung Tau and it was great western food for small kids.

Took the ferry from hcmc to vung tau, no muss no fuss on a july Saturday morning. The view from the boat was great until the salt spray coated the windows. You’ll see the entire city of hcmc on your way with plenty of nautical flotsam and jetsam to set your heart a flutter. The steady rolling of the boat beats the hell out of the stop and go of the bus any day,

Great ferry service imo! Nice seats and tv entertainment. Their friendly staff provide free water for the journey. I paid 280,000 dong (free for my son) for a one way trip to HCM during the TET holiday. Great value!

We loved the 90 minute ride from and to Ho Chi Minh City to Vung Tau and will do it again. Very clean and comfortable air conditioned ride and bottle water was served! It was very easy to have the hotel staff reserve the round trip rides in advance. We paid at the gate half an hour before departure. It cost about CA$ 30.00 per roundtrip per person. The cab ride to our hotel on the Back Beach from the Front Beach was about 6.00.

hi, i am fabian here from singapore. may i know is there any way i can book greenline ferry tickets to vung tau from ho chi minh online here at singapore? Is there any website?
Written 21 March 2018
Yes. We booked Greenline ferry service from Vang Tau to Ho Chi Min on their web site. Google Greenly Ferry’s. Good luck! Enjoy Vang Tau. P.S. the review for the salad was at a different ferry terminal than where you’ll come in from Ho Chi Min.

I use an electric wheelchair (scooter). Is the ferry accessible/suitable for me?

If you have help it may be possible. There are deck hands sometimes that could assist you maybe carry.. If you have others with you it would help but as indicated above there are steps and yes the planks that make it difficult..but possible. Good Luck. If you use the deck hands a tip would be appropriate
