Breathtaking bridge to visit at night after perusing the night markets and stopping off for a few beers here and there. Close to the markets just a 5 minute walk.

This is a heavy traffic bridge, measuring 2.7 Km, over the Hau River, and should not be confused with the Ninh Kieu Pedestrian bridge over the Cai Khe Canal ( Cau di bo Ben Ninh Kieu) which is at one end of the Hai Ba Trung road.

While both these bridges, are located in the city of Can Tho, the Ninh Kieu Pedestrian bridge, as the name suggest, is a walking bridge, and is about 200 meters long and no vehicles are allowed on it.

Our boat lady and guide, Miss Loan informed us, that the Can Tho bridge replaced the earlier ferry system across the Hau river, connecting the City of Can Tho to Vinh Long, and was built with the help of the Japanese Government.

We were visiting some waterways and channels and were taken for a ride bellow this bridge which looked majestic. Just like the Ninh Kieu Pedestrian bridge, the Can Tho bridge is also illuminated up at night with morphing lights and is a spectacular site.

This bridge both day and night dominates the landscape of the city of Can Tho. It is brightly lighted at night and announces you have arrived in the city with signage.

I was totally not expecting this when I visited! This is definitely worth visiting after dark when it is all lit up. It was absolutely beautiful and the highlight of my trip to Can Tho!

the pedestrian bridge continues from the walkway along the river. a nice walk during the day (or a good ground for jogging), the bridge turns fancy after sunset, with its lotus flowers in colors, and the two shiny dragons in the river as well as all the smaller lights funded by local enterprises. a great place to look it is the Lotus Cafe, just before the bridge left hand side.
