Wow! This was so cool! And hot! The Hammam is ancient, but the service is top notch. Akbar and his staff are true professionals. I was shown into the locker room as soon as I arrived, then after I changed into a simple sheet, I was led into the old Hammam with 6 other women who were all very nice. We sat in the heat as the female staff filled buckets of water, then each of us was whisked away for a wash, scrub, hair wash and ginger skin treatment. Then each of us sat in the hot Hammam again, until we were ready for a massage and final rinse. The entire experience was about an hour. It was so relaxing - I feel totally rejuvenated after a long week of travel and tours.
This is really fabulous, and worth 10 times what I paid for it.

Terrible tourist divorce!
Come to find out what and how. For 15 minutes they sang how great it is and that for an hour the bather serves you, massages you and brightens your skin. What's real? You'll come at 5 p.m., until 5:15 p.m., sitting in a cold room while you're called for a procedure. The massage and washing itself will take up to ten minutes. Massage good questions zero but after massage you will be rubbed and taken and taken to a steam room where at barely warm temperature you will inhale minimal steam. 20 minutes! Then they'll wash your ginger off and send you off to wipe your grandmother's towels and sit in the basement for another 10 minutes to invite you for tea! Just rotten people, for 30 euros rubbing in such a service. Would have read this text before coming here would have saved both money and time. The owners are real Shaitans. Stop fooling people! Dislike and block in your place for the rest of your life!

This is a tourist scam, we made a reservation and arrived on time. While we were in dressing, the reception guy allowed a whole group of tourists right into the Hammam. We stayed in the dressing area a good 10 min before they left and we could enter. They told us to lie down on a luke warm slab, even as the last of the tourist group was leaving, and peering at us in our towels. Another group of tourists came in while we were lying on the slab, which as you can imagine was awkward.
There were 2 attendants, but 3 of us. One guy was ok. The second younger guy looked after the other 2 of us. He was untrained and uninterested. The “ scrubbinh and massage” took 5 minutes. My attendant did no scrubbing or massaging, mainly washing me with soap instead (!)
He then applied a ginger honey scrub just on my shoulders and told me to go back to lie down in the slab. A good thing the scrub was not applied anywhere else cos it got hot very quickly.
5 minutes later, he told me to dig up, poured a bucket of cold water on me, then told me to towel down, and said we were fine. I still had scrub on my back.
However, there was now a group of female tourists changing (in this ostensibly make sauna), and again k could not change back into my clothes for 10 min.
The whole experience took 1 hr, of which the washing lasted 5 minutes, with no massage or stretching.
For 400000 som, this was a major scam. I understand Uzbek is not a rich country and tourism helps with their economic development. But these rip - offs just turn people off and risk spoiling the rich and beautiful heritage that Uzbekistan has.

That’s quite unique bath place to visit. The bath-house attendants are in the third generation in their roles and believe me know that business. Strongly recommend to anyone(men) who has just free 1,5 hours in Bukhara. The oldest active bath i have ever seen in my life. P.S. It works until the last customer that is very suitable.

I went with 4 friends - we were 2 male and 4 females. I was taken to a side room for my massage. It was a male masseur and he did massage my breast like he was kneading bread which I did thinks was quite strange but new cultures - maybe this was to done thing. Then I sensed some heavy breathing and opened my eyes and he said sorry sorry - so this was totally out of 🖐️. My friends had a nice experience but I would leave this as a warning ⛔️

After arriving in Bukhara from a long drive from Khiva, my partner and I wanted to relax and unwind with a hamman experience. We were able to walk in to the Bozori Kord Hamman without an appointment. The person at the front desk explained the services in terms of sweating in the hot room, exfoliation with the kese, a massage on the central heated platform, a ginger honey paste applied to your back to improve circulation before returning to the hot room to sweat some more, and a final rinse off with cooler water before tea in the front room. The massage was one of the best I have ever had, made better by being on the heated central platform under the great dome of an ancient hamman. I would wholeheartedly recommend this as an authentic experience.

There’s a separate hammam for women, at a short distance away. This is for the men. Set in an old historical building. A fabulous experience. A lot of scrubbing, steaming, massaging and lots of hot water later, you’re a shiny new person!! Must do!

My husband and I visited in winter 2015. I can't remember exactly what we paid (and to be practical, inflation is so great it'd be radically different now anyway), but I believe it would have been about $40US for us both, for a steam, bath and massage.
After arranging an appointment during the day, we arrived in the evening, and were the only visitors there. There were two masseuses, and their two friends hung out in the reception area. I felt uncomfortable removing my clothes, changing into a towel than walking through the reception area with the two additional men watching me. Had I been alone, I would have left at this point.
We were steamed in separate rooms. I was collected by my masseuse, who had removed his top and changed into a towel around his own waist. We were then washed with buckets of cold water over the head and massaged in the same general area.
As a lady, I received a "gentle" massage, while my husband was treated to the full body experience - his definitely sounded firm!
I really didn't enjoy my massage, with my legs being consistently positioned to spreadeagled position and my towel removed from my breasts more than once. The feeling was one of being exposed, rather than relaxation or therapeutic benefit. I was extremely tense, with the massage much too close to my labia than appropriate and I ended my massage sooner than my masseuse preferred.
I then walked across reception in a wet towel to change, with the two friends spectating. The whole hammam was dimly lit and slightly dreamlike, and the reception area was filled with cigarette smoke from the friends.
There's no way I'd have done this without at least one other trusted person being present. I'm not prudish or unadventurous, and have skinny dipped and been naked in public baths in Sweden, Norway, Finland, Iceland, Japan and more. I've had relaxation and sports massages in many other places, but this was definitely not relaxing or comfortable.
Overall, I still feel creeped out by this visit - enough to write this review almost a year later. Would not recommend to female travellers, especially young, unless with a group of other females.

I've been here 3 times and so far the experience has been good.
If you are expecting a spa, well this isn't.
The facilities are old and run-down, but that is where the charm is.
Staff are friendly and if not busy, will do every treatment properly and unrushed.
Steam room first, then an attendant will wash and scrub you, followed by a massage on top of one of the stone slabs. The massage is done with soap, in front of everybody else.
It can be painful if you are not used to it. Pleasurable and relaxing if you are.
After a 20 - 30 minute massage, you are washed up, and a ginger paste is applied on your back and shoulder, this for me, is the best part, you can lie down on a warm stone for another 10 to 15 minutes.
And then you are washed again.
Tea is served outside, where you will also get sprayed with rose water as a final step.
150,000 Sum or about 20USD.
Women are allowed in, and while some are totally comfortable being massaged by men in front of other men, some may not. And I am sure some men are also not comfortable with women in the same facility.
There is a woman's hammam elsewhere in this historic town.

Hello, I would like to reserve a place for 3 people (1 woman, 2 men) on 31 October at the evening around 21. Is it possible? How can I do? Thank you in advance!

Hello traloaz! I am planning a trip to Bukhara in early June. Can you tell me if the Hamman has some sort of locker facilities for a visitor to lock their belongings in? If so, how secure do you feel it was? Thank you and happy travels! Any other observations or advice would be welcomed...
Written 17 January 2018
Hi - yes the lockers are large and everything is secure. It felt that way too. I am sure they could hold something large like a suitcase by the desk if you need to.
When you are done the area where you relax with tea is next to the lockers. The guys went out to change money for me while I rested with tea. Its all quite casual and kind, much more so than my Turkish or Japanese experiences.

What are Bozori Kord openning hours for females?
Written 6 April 2016
Will you need to make a reservation to visit Bozori Kord or can you just walk in? What should you bring with you to the bath house?
Written 1 April 2016
I simply walked in. You do not need anything. Lockers are provided and a wrap to cover yourself up. I was offered a soft massage at extra cost and had not taken enough cash to pay for that, so worth asking beforehand if you think you might want that option after the included massage.
