Mr. Piria a staunch entrepreneur who bought and sold land and developed Piriapolis, (the city of Piria) was a Mason and also an alchemist. The castle is full of symbolism that deserves to be known.

The kids ran around outside, exploring the grassy area surrounding the building — a cacophony of birds in the trees and the soft evening light makes it a stunning memory. My husband and I enjoyed learning about the unique history of the area as well...More

Interesting town. One of my favorite in Uruguay. Castle is interesting but the man that built it is an even better story. I suggest a stop then into town for lunch.

This is the placed we enjoyed the most from Piriapolis. We visited the castle with a guide who kindly responded all our enquiries. The place has a unique atmosphere and you may feel you are in the middle of some magic spell going on.

You can enjoy the castle, walk in the garden, view go up to the tower, and more. It's a great place to visit with kids.

I enjoyed our visit there. An interesting piece of history. I did feel however that so much more could be done to make it more attractive to tourist.
