This was part of a two day couch trip with tui.
We did a sunset camel ride or horse and buggy.
Lots of photo opportunities
Your lead out on a camel to various areas of the desert and every so often horse riders appear wanting you to take their photos for a price
At the end in the camel station, your photo on the camel is for sale 4 td
Well worth a visit

The 2 day sahara explorer is well worth the money.
We woke up around 4:30 am and the coach came to pick us up at 5am.
We travelled through the night to our destinations. The following is in order of the trip.
Amphitheater of El Jem
Underground house of the local people
Camel ride into the desert for 1 hour (90 pounds for the camel ride and horse and carriage ride, well worth it)
Overnight stay at a hotel
Saltwater lake with sunrise
4x4 SUV ride to the star wars film set in the desert
Horse and carriage ride to a date plantation (price included with camel ride)
Great Mosque of Kairouan
The tour guide will give you a lot of information about tunisia, so much that it will be hard to sleep throughout the journey.
No one forces you to buy products.

To ride the sahara dessert one a camel in the sunset is one of the best experiences in tunisia. I also recommend to sleep outside and see the stars.

A mind blowing experience one my family will cherish for many years to come. The locals from surrounding countries were so warm and welcoming. They took photos with my children and let us sit in the front row during the festivities. We did 3 day Saharan festival it is was amazing to be out so isolated in the Sahara riding on camel back, we did with out 3 children ages 2/4/6 they loved it

Almost certainly you ll get to ride a camel with an escort, but will not go far into the dessert. A short ride at the outskirts but will get a taste of what dessert feels like

My partner and I thoroughly enjoyed this trip, it was a great opportunity to see Tunisia and the guide had excellent knowledge of the country. I would highly recommend this trip. However, my only concern was regarding the standard of care towards the animals, particularly the horses on the horse and carriage ride to the Oasis. A few of these horses appeared underfed and overworked. I still would recommend the trip but would like to see a bit more care for the animals.

We recently visited Tunisia for the first time & liked the look of this trip. So glad we booked it as we had a fabulous time which really enhanced the holiday overall. The cost of the trip was £90 which includes your travel, food & overnight hotel stay.
We set off at 7.30 on the first morning (from Port el Kantaoui). We visited the coliseum at El Jem, stopped for a coffee break, had our lunch at a hotel, visited the caves where the Berber people live, stopped for another coffee break & arrived in the Sahara at 5.00 for our camel ride (30 dinar extra charge). Amazing experience!! We then arrived at the Sahara Douz hotel where we stayed the night. Had an all inclusive buffet which was delicious. My partner & I really liked this hotel & thought it was more friendly & authentic than the actual hotel we had booked. Very cheap drinks & a great shisha for only 5 dinar!!
The next morning we set off at 4.45 so we could see the Sahara sunrise which was beautiful. Following this, we stopped for a horse & cart ride (10 dinar extra charge) where we visited a local area where dates are harvested. We then went on to receive a 4x4 ride through the desert & saw the set of Star Wars which was great fun. Following this, we had our lunch at a different hotel & then had a couple more coffee stops on the way back. We arrived back at our hotel for 7.30pm.
Overall, a wonderful ‘once in a lifetime experience’. We found the trip to be good value & lots of fun. You’ll just need to take a little extra cash for the camel & horse rides, drinks & tips for the locals. Yes, there’s a lot of travelling involved but this is actually part of the fun. I’d also like to give a special mention to Abdulla, our tour guide who was absolutely fantastic (extremely friendly, a font of knowledge & multilingual!!).
Would highly recommend

Hi, we done this trip last week from kantoui. It goes on a Monday and Friday by company called meeting point. You can Watsapp them on +216 55 243 317. Medhri arranged it for us. It cost £82 pp plus 25 dinar £8.50 for camel ride, you can also visit the Star Wars set, hotel and food included but not drinks ( they were very cheap though), lots of stops, on day 2 our driver stopped the coach for us to watch the sunrise on the desert. It was exhausting but a great trip. I hope you have a great time. Sandie
