If ever in Sukhothai, this is a must visit. The Buddha that is inside of the temple is extremely large and powerful to see! It is near the Sukhothai Historical Park but has a seperate admission fee. It is well worth the 100 baht fee for foreigners.

We have visited this area many times and it is a delightful bicycle ride to here from the main park area (about 20 minutes) get here early morning to enjoy the atmosphere and some lovely photo opportunities. There is a small snack bar and souvenir shop at the entrance. The hidden Buddha is spectacular!!

This is one of the more remarkable statues among the ruins in the Sukhothai Historical Park. It’s definitely a perfect photo spot. I found myself contemplating what the entire complex must have been like in centuries past

The "Achana Buddha" peeks out from a crack in the wall as you approach. I don't think it's that big. Then I went inside and saw a big one! Standing 15 meters tall, its name is said to mean "something that does not move or change."

It is located far from the archaeological zone.
We rode bikes and kids. The worst part is that you have to cross the road, it can be a bit dangerous and there was not much else in the area.
The temple is for a fee, it's not very expensive.
The square-shaped wihan houses an image of Buddha.

Having visited a few historical sites in Thailand and understanding the periodic time line between different capital I must say that in SUKHOTHAI the historical sites are very different.
Overall I can only comprehend and place myself to visualize the awe of these places during those period. Worth to visit.

First, do not sit on the base where the Buddha statue is. I told like 3 people not so. It is disrespectful to the people and it say so on a sign. The statue is located inside, but it’s not like a temple or a house. It has no roof for that matter. Basically an entrance and four walls. The statue is quite big and has a large golden hand. Next to it, located to the right of the building, is a smaller sitting Buddha. The park surrounding is nothing special. You have like six shops outside for and that’s it. But I recommend to visit.

I really cannot describe the feeling when I was inside this historical temple. It was a mixture of magical scene and the effects from the spectacular architectural design. As if the big Buddha is staring at you and talking to you inside your head. A place to definitely visit once!

This is the old temple around 700 years ago. Formerly, people can go to the top of the building but it’s too narrow, so they closed it.

Hello I been there by 7.30 am it was closed .does any one know what time it open ?
Written 8 February 2019
Hi, I am very surprised because it is supposed to be open like the rest of the historical site.
By the way, a website indicates it opens from 6am. Another one, from 7am.
I don't know. Maybe there was a special event or ceremony, which would explain why it was closed.
Would you have the possibility to ask why it was closed? Would be interested to know.
