Lan Hin Pum (button rock) has a very beautiful mountain view. The trail takes about 2hrs to complete & moderate walk. Many scenic spots and the rock formations/sediments. Too bad, all the explaination/tour guide only speaks Thai.

When asked why there wasn’t a sign indicating 500 baht entry for a foreigner we were told to just go pay.

This is an absolute beautiful park to walk and learn the history of the area. Some 40 years ago, this was the communist stronghold in Thailand. Battles and fighting were waged and finally King Rama negotiated a peace settlement and peace followed. I strongly urge...More

I tried to enter this national park and they refused to accept my work permit (ID) which by the law allows and entitles entry of a foreigner who works here for the “Thai” price (40 baht) and not the “extortion” rate of 500 baht for...More

The road leading up to Phu Hin Rong Kla National Park is fantastic for motorcycles. There are bends after bends and it seems to climb forever. There was quite a lot of traffic as it was the holiday season but they were easily overtaken on...More

This is a beautiful and amazing sight and good for the camera, but it is a long way from anywhere and there are unusually high charges for entering the park that is "only" nature inside.

Some interesting rocky landscape, but nothing spectacular. However if you are a history buff, a couple of decades ago this was a communist stronghold in Thailand, and there was significant fighting here with government forces.. They were eventually disbanded with government pardons. There is a...More

It's an important centre of Thai history that the present military government would probably prefer we didn't visit. For fifteen years between 1968 and 1982 this high mountain plateau was the site of the headquarters of the Thai communist party, which controlled large parts of...More
