This dual carriageway road has been improved enormously. It goes through some interesting countryside at times, with many photo opportunities, and the surface is now good.

Highway 12 has been vastly improved in the last few years. Along the highway you will find a few waterfalls and national parks. Have travelled it a few times on family day trips to Khao Koh and Wat Prathat Phasornkaew.

While I was here, Thailand became number one in the world for road fatalities. Fortunately, this is a large, dual carriageway style road and has a few nice stops for coffee, waterfalls and views.

Very nice scenic route going over the mountains, Several scenic view points and a few nice buddha images on the slopes of the mountains. Avoid road 228 to Udon Thani, probably the worst road in Thailand .

This is a very scenic drive, there are plenty of stopping points along the way with many offering coffee and refreshments, many have a viewing point so that you can see the exceptional countryside.

Since the road was made two lanes each way it is a safer road. Many places to stop en route with the temple at Kao Khot worth an hours stop. Great views.
