Disgusting and filthy island. We went on island tours to 14 other islands and this was the worst of them all. Poorly maintained, dirty and polluted.

This was a stop as part of our Phang Nga trip. The Mosque was beautiful and the floating shop and village were a site to see. My three boys enjoyed renting a soccer ball and enjoyed playing on the floating soccer field. Lots of memories at this stop. The water level was quite low which exposed the stilts beneath the village.

We were very glad our tour stopped here for lunch and a browse. Reading some of the reviews we were apprehensive however, we were treated to a yummy lunch and given little extras as we are veggie. We then went for a browse. The mosque is beautiful, the shops were quaint and it's generally a great place to see how other people live.
We are so spoilt in the UK. These people live a simple life, fish for their food and do what they need to do to get by. We got some right bargains on some t-shirts and they don't mind a haggle.
Yes there is a smell but I'm sorry not everyone has 5* plumbing!
Really interesting place, do not miss if you want to see and experience other cultures and ways of life.

This was a great stop for us ..as we were starving. They served amazing food. From the water it was a great view of the island. I was hoping to find done pearls. We could only enter the shop connected to the restaurant..definitely actouist trap ..and overpriced.

This is a village as part of a boat tour that feels as filthy as it looks. You stop here for lunch and a chance to shop. The entire structure begs the question of what is going on? Some claim it is a must see...the food isn't good and cleanliness is an issue. I could have done without the experience.

We visited this place for lunch during our James Bond & Hong island trip. The village is entirely built on stilts and has a school and even a floating football field.

Koh Panyi was our first of 5-island hoping on a cloudy day. We were really surprised to the structure built on stilts on the sea, people there, their livelihood options, etc. About 360 fishermen families of Indonesian origin leave there. We only saw women and kids as we heard that men leave the island on early morning for work. Women are managing different types of shops - restaurants, gift items, boutiques, etc. We saw a beautiful mosque over there in one corner. In the opposite corner there is a school and a small but beautiful floating ply ground for the kids. The island has power, has an ATM machine, and cell phone tower to make the leaving there a little comfortable. It is worth visiting to see see how some people leave in such a place which is virtually on the sea.

Try going to a more local restaurant and local shops along the small pathway connecting every floating house in this islands and you'll get the best out of Panyee.

This was part of a tour of island hoping , which provided lunch, since then and even still being back in Australia my husband and myself are still sick, I only got a little sick but my husband very ill from the food, wish we had seen the village before they sat us down to eat, as after walking about , you were able to see the filth that was there, this tour came highly recommended from agency, but wish I had read these reviews would then have not even considered this. I can see why they didn,t want people looking around as my husband saw the kitchen after we had eaten and said it was filthy. And yes there was food in buckets and lots of smelly water . Whole place was the dirtiest part of Phuket even the peasants were cleaner than here. Beware if you do this tour do not eat the food, bring your own lunch. We were probably lucky this was on the tail end of our holiday, but still ruined the final 3 days as we were unable to leave our room. Husband swears now he will not return to Thialand, which is such a pity. We have now been home 4 days and husband has been to doctor here as well as there and was told food poisoning very bad case. Please be aware of what can happen. We only ever eat at restaurants when we travel to Asia, but got caught this time , but when an agency sells it you would think you would be safe. Please take care when travelling. Can otherwise become very uncomfortable for you during your holiday.
