We rented inner-tubes for 100 baht from a small shop near the high school in town. The man dropped us off a few kilometers away so we could float downstream for about 2 hours (or at least that was the plan). The water was pretty low so we got caught and flipped around every few hundred meters, but it was hilarious and super fun. The locals got a kick out of the farangs looking like fools and were so nice in trying to help us get through the low patches of water. The higher parts of the river were extremely relaxing though and the silhouettes of the mountains around us were beautiful. It was definitely not a conventional method of seeing the river but we had a blast! Note: you will most likely lose your flip flops, and also don't bother with a bikini - wear shorts and a tank or some sort of workout outfit instead

A beautiful, clear river running through Pai and the jungle areas. I took a stroll along from Walking Street and it was very picturesque in some spots.

Lots of hotels can be found near the river, also some good paths for walking. It’s nice to hear the trickling of water against rocks and fallen trees whilst listening to the birds talking to one another and the sounds of the jungle.

Pais river.. when you leave the hub is great for swimming in. Beautiful scenery. And there is an unknown place to go and it is great. But you can find that on your own. :)

Niels sounds like the Laos owner of the Sunset Bar judging by the level of his English. This guy fashions himself as some kind of gangster even if his angel wing back tattoos are more than a little effeminate. So the reason I'm writing this review is to inform any prospective guests that this guy is a psycho. If you are looking for some excitement, you should go to this bar. When I went and made a comment about the beer being expensive, he started attacking me despite my protests that I did not want to fight. He had his bar hand hold me down the whole time, making the whole occasion quite fair. Considering he got to kick me twice in the midsection twice and take several free shots at my head, I remained relatively unscathed. Good for some hot action as long as you don't mind walking around with an attractive bruise on your face for the next 3 days. Really nice guy.

Never set up a tour with pai expert travel company!!! They are so iresponsibale. Yesterday we went tubing with them. They offered a good price of 250 bat per person. I told them i'm a bad swimer and they promise an 8 kilometer and 2 hours of slow and chilled raft on a tube. Our group contained 12 people and one guide. They said that there is gonna be a break after one hour in order that everyone will chill in the water and wait to the last ones. After 30 minites of rafting i lost my freind and the rest of the group, i tried to go faster and in to the middle of the river, but i kept bumping on the river sides. I had to stend up twice in order to get rellised from the boshes. After 40 minites of being alone without any eyecontact with the group, i started to figure that the guide is not stoping and doesnt wait for me. The group were 2 kilometres ahead of me and i yeld so hard but nobody herd me. I started to get into panic and crying and almost drowned at a deep spot where i got stuck. I just waited for this nightmare to end. After more then an hour of being alone i saw that the guide waited for me next to a waterfall because the last ones of the group told him that i'm far behind. In this waterfall i fliped off, lost my glasses and i cried and yelled at the bad guide that i cant see propperly and cant stay there anymore vecause it's too dangerous. We went up to the trail next to the river and 300 meters after, i found my freind lenibg a bamboo and waiting for me. I just cried for like 30 minites after because i got traomatized. I gave the guider my phone (it was kept in a water proof bag) and he called his bos to pick us up from the road. I explained everything to the bos, that the guider didnt wait for me. That they promised a chill river but it was very fast going and not apropiate for tubing. They didnt even appologized to me. They didnt gave a refund eventhough it was a dangerous trip that we didnt finished. I wrote this story in order to make tourists know that this a dangerous tourism office. You can't trast them, they want your money and they'll hide the risks from you. There is so many other tourisem offices in pai, just try them. Aya tours were good. This trip is'nt recomanded for families with kids and not to adults who are not a good swimmers, like me.

The horror of tubing! Perhaps it's fun after a monsoon, but this was slow, stinky and there are areas of scummy standing water which are super nasty. My gf cried twice and got a hole in her tube!

After à tube ride in THE pai river, me And three others have been bitten à lot. Had to go to THE hospital white they told us THE river was very dirty. Went back to THE tubing agency wherr u was told we were the first customers, And that it was soms kind of mosquito. They would not compensate us And told me if otters would complain they would shut THE operation down for à week. This is no joke, service before tubing was friendly, but for your own security do not do this ride in this period!!!!

After gone tubing in the amazing Nam Song river, in Vang Vieng (Laos), I was expecting some clean water and great environment in Pai. UNFORTUNATELY that's not the case for Pai River. It's quite dirty, lot of sewage being disposed... Honestly I dindn't feel like to make the tubing again in this place.

Enjoy Pai's waterfalls, hot springs and other aquatic attractions, but avoid the river for your health.

I was led to believe this was a safe and fun leisurely activity. To my horror, I was wrong. From start to finish I was left nervous and unknowing. The river was dirty, polluted and full of dangerous wildlife. At one point we even saw a river snake. If we had been supervised I’d have hoped the experience would have been more pleasant, alas, it was not. You have two very disgruntled customers.

We visited a village with long neck ladies and went there by longtail boat which drove over river Pai. It was very hot that day and the wind was like a fohn. But it was a beautiful trip.
