This is the highest Stupa (Buddhist temple) in the world and is just a short walk from the Nakhon Pathom railway station. The origins of the Stupa are unknown. However, as per the local legend, it is over two thousand years old. The temple consists of a central bell-shaped structure topped by a cone and is reached through a short... More

Incredible Buddhist edifice clearly seen from the highway. There are so many to see in Thailand that the novelty wears off. I feel sorry that they think they must donate money to receive a blessing or good luck.

You are this place and you are over awed by its grandeur. It's big...I mean bigggggg. Good relaxing place like all other stupa and a big local attraction too. Do visit if you are in the area.

Many times I have visited this enormous chedi that is the focal point of the whole of Nakhon Pathom. The temple is huge and the grounds are interesting with zillions of little nooks, crannies and little caves to explore, and people to observe. The end of the afternoon is a good time for photos. The temple itself only opens on... More

We spent a good while trying to determine if we cold get into the chedi here. Didn't manage it and were not even sure it is possible. There are lots of Buddha statues in the gallery surrounding the chedi and you can get some nice views from this area as weill. Fascinating site and well worth a visit.

For people who don't about this, there is a weekend excursion train departing from Bangkok Hua Lumphong station via the dead rail, and the first stop is here. Where you can get off the train and explore the temple a bit. It seems to be very popular with the locals and the temple is actually very quiet except the sound... More

This is the largest temple in Nakhon Prathom with the world's biggest stupa and the tallest one in Thailand. It's located in the middle of the city, built in the shape of bell (Sri Lanka style) covered with golden-brown color tiles. The stupa is very beautiful, both during the day and the night times. In the evening, there will be... More
