The Phra Pathom Chedi, located about an hour west of Bangkok (and on the usual route to the original floating market in Damnoen Saduak) is different than most Thai wats in that the centerpiece of this temple is an enormous chedi or stupa. In fact...More

The Thais will tell you that it is the biggest chedi in Asia and they are probably right! it's been renovated now and still very nice. Perhaps better in the evening when the heat is not that high. I love the frangipani trees around. if...More

Biggest does not mean better. It’s a nice big stupa with loads to see in the surroundings, the monks, their grounds, the reclining Buddha and other Buddha little temples in the grounds for worshipping. The big stupa itself is impressive and you can walk around...More

This is the BIGGEST chedi in the country, but in my humble opinion it doesn't have much else going for it. After fighting thru the downtown traffic in Nakorn Pathom, one gets to see a big building. If it weren't for the myriad of vendors...More

A bit hard to get here on your own, since the public transportation in Thailand is somewhat not so friendly. But the temple itself is beautiful with the big stupa in the middle. Also, you could join the Buddhist practice inside too.

This is by far the largest Buddhist construction in Thailand and is the tallest in the world. It is centrally located in Nakhon Pathom Thailand and well worth the trip from Bangkok (take Microbus to end of line, then take river or motorcycle taxi)

We were there just after Songkran so the crowd died down a bit but still attracted many tourists. Everything was delightful except the traffic around the Chedi was so confusing and there seemed to be a big flea market thing going on, not enough parking,...More
