Of all the stops, this was one of our favorites. Kids dug the dozens of rooster statues. This temple is older than Ayutthaya. Large, awesome reclining Buddha (turn left just after the ticket and go straight through the little door, taking care not to step...More

This is one of the few working temples at the UNESCO site, which makes for a nice change of pace. There are lots of interesting sculptures and pieces here to look at, and the staff are friendly as well. Worth a quick bike ride over.

Ayuttaya is a hidden treasure and a place that should not be missed when visiting Thailand! originally the capital of Thailand, Ayuttaya is rich with history. I rented a bike for 30 baht/ day and cycled my way around the town. There was a entrance...More

We were actually looking for a short cut through to The Royal Palace. We paid 20 baht to wander around. There are some ruins, as well as a working temple. It was more impressive than anticipated and well worth a 15 minute wander.

If you need some luck in whatever, just spend a few baht and you'll be fine in love, work etc. This Wat is more quiet as some others. It has a calm atmosphere.

Upon entering Wat Thammikarat or Wat Thummikarat it appears to be largely in ruins, but is actually an active temple with monks living there. The most interesting feature is a central temple surrounded by singha or lion sculptures. And roosters - lots of roosters!

A unique chedi that is surrounded by Singha instead of the usual Elephants. That alone makes it impressive, but there is also an enormous vihara, that still contains a Buddha image.

This was my favourite temple of all the Temples in Ayatthaya. I had been to Thailand ten years previously and toured a lot of temples with a Thai friend who was a devout buddhist. On this trip I was unable to recapture the same sense...More
