Padmini Palace is a multi-storied white building, which has been built amidst the water bodies. This palace has historical significance. As per legend, this is the place where Aladdin Khalji was permitted to see the mirror image of Rani Padmini. However, our local guide had strongly disagreed with that saga. Nevertheless, it is widely believed that Aladdin Khalji was besotted by the beauty of Padmini and the desire to win her led to violent attack and Killing of Maharana Rattan Singh, however Rani Padmini committed Johar to keep her honour. Rani Padmini's life story is an eternal legend in the history of Chittor. Currently, the palace can only be viewed from the road, as entry in the palace is restricted. When we visited the pond was also dried up. Hence the visit was not much interesting barring witnessing a historically significant palace.

Padmini Palace was the place of residence of Rani Padmini, the rajput queen, wife of King Rawal Ratan Singh, who played a very crucial role in rajput history.

Padmini Palace was the very palace from where Ala-ud-din Khilji was permitted to obtain a glimpse of rani Padmini in a mirror placed in the main hall. Allured by her beauty, Ala-ud-din Khilji fought a fierce battle with Rana Ratan Singh. Rani Padmini was augmented by her preference of death to abduction and dishonour during the historic siege of Chittor in 1303 AD, by Ala-ud-din Khilji. As an aftermath, Ala-ud-din Khilji killed thirty thousand Hindus in revenge.

It is a 3 storied white building that overlooks a pleasant lotus pool. The palace is adorned by the pavilions at the top and surrounded water moats. The architecture of this palace becomes the example for many other notable structures which were surrounded by the water.

The Palace where Rani Padmini lived after she married the ruler of Mewar Maharaja Rawal Rattan Singh. The Palace was surrounded by a Lotus pool which was used by the palace ladies. The legend of Rani Padmini endures in Indian history and she was said to be as beautiful as Cleopatra and supposed to be the main reason Sultan Alauddin Khalji attacked Chittor in 1303 and killed Maharaj Rawal.Rattan .Singh after which Rani Padmini and the Rajput ladies committed Jauhar.

We were quite curious about this place and the associated history. Found it to be the way its described in most stories and Movies. The Palace belonged to Rani Padmavati who was considered to be most beautiful. Palace could be reached through a Tunnel and then by a Boat. There was immense Security in and around the Place and no Outsider could even get a glimpse of the Queen.

This is a hyped place. There is a small building inside a pond that is not accessible. You can view the building from afar end. There is nothing special here just like a large building in Rajasthan
