This area inside Chittaurgarh fort holds good historical significance of Mewar and Rajput empire. This place is witness to valour of Mewar dynasty and the famous pillar dedicated to the sacrifice and victory of Mewar Rajputs

Located within Chittorgarh Fort. Vijay Stambha is a tall nine storey tower which was built by Maharana Kumbha to commemorate his victory over the rulers of Malwa and Gujarat. The tower is visible from any section of the town below. There are sculptures and carvings on the exterior walls of the tower. Though there is provision to climb to the top by stairs, but currently the visit to the top is not allowed.

You can pretty much spot the Victory Tower from anywhere in Chittorgarh. It still dominates the landscape after nearly 600 years and stands at nine stories high. Dedicated to Vishnu, the exterior is covered with sculptures and carvings. I read that one was able to climb the 157 steps to the top, to admire the inside walls's carvings and the views from the top. But during my visit in Feb'23, it was closed.

It is a majestic and royal tower, built by rana kumbha,to commemorate his victory against two armies.
The carvings on its walls are simply beautiful.
The staircase has been closed due to covid.
I felt proud as an Indian, while standing in front.
I wonder why this structure is not marketed by the Tajmahal. It has every quality to be one wonder of this world.
I also felt ashamed that there were monkeys and stray dogs around everywhere and people throwing garbage all around!

The Vijay Stambha, situated in Chittargarh fort is a symbol of grand Rajput glory in face of foreign invaders. This monument is built by Maharana Kumbha to commemorate the victory of his small yet valourous Hindu Rajput army against the combined Muslim army of Malwa & Gujrat Sultanate led by Mahmud Khalji. Just beside it is the sacrificial ground of Jauhar.

This tower was constructed by the Mewar king Rana Kumbha between 1458 - 1468 to commemorate his victory over Mahmud Shah I Khalji of Malwa in 1440 AD. The tower is dedicated to the Hindu God Vishnu.Ruin's of temples destroyed by invading rulers are kept on the large grounds that lead to "Vijay Stambha" .Vijay Stambha is taller than Kirti Stambha at 37.2 meters( 122 ft) ht and a base of over 47 Sq ft. It has 9 storey's and can be accessed by a narrow circular staircase of 157 steps. The Stambha is illuminated during evenings as is the entire length of the Chittor fort walls that looks beautiful from the city
