A very impressive gate of entry into the Garh Palace in Bundi. The massive gate is topped by 2 fighting (?) elephants and an arcade, which served for musicians and "rose petal throwers" when the maharaja came home. Large parts of the fort are still private property of the Royal Family and, totally unexpected, I was stopped at the gate and forbidden to go further. They even wanted to prevent me from taking photos (not successfully, as you can see).

Nice place to visit. There were not many tourists when we visited so it was more pleasant. It is not as crowded as other many forts in Rjasthan. Bundi itself is a peaceful city though.

Hathia Pol is the entrance of the main palace of Bundi inside the Fort. It has two elephants on the top of the arched gate in fighting pose. If you observe closely, one elephant is in aggressive posture (with straight protruding ears) and the other one is on defensive (with flat, face clinging ears). We were told by our guide that both the elephants have been carved on a single stone. The gate leads you to area where nine horses were kept in ready position. On the floor above it is Ratan Daulat built by Raja Ratan Singh and used as Diwan-e-Aam. There is also a raised platform on the left side that was used by queens to sit on the elephants whenever they wished to visit the city.

A gate to the palace in the fort.
It looks good, but not great.
Elephants are a feature of the gate, not many more.
I didn’t spend much for this gate.

Hathia Pol is the main entry gate of Garh Palace and is very prominent. The gate is huge, has two elephant statues on the top, even the width of the gate is good. In the gate there are two balconies where as per our guide, musicians use to welcome guest with their chimes. The gate leads to Diwan-a-am and even the view of the gate from here is a delight. I have attached some images which I took in Aug'16. Have a look.
