A very underrated place till you visit the place . We used a battery vehicle to see the fort. the battery vehicle helps to cover the multiple layers of the fort which is not possible with walking. We were lucky to have Mr. Bikram Singh as guide. A passionate young guide. He drove the vehicle as well as explained to us the history of the fort. A 7D show is part of the package. The video quality can be improved. Worth visiting . Keep 1 to 2 hours for a relaxed tour. But use a guide to get the best of the historical fort. Additional charge for using battery vehicle is Rs. 150/200.

A surprisingly large fort. Surprising that is as you won't find it mentioned anywhere in a list of notable or significant forts in India. Tall thick outer walls behind a moat, inner walls of similar thickness. Not the medieval types built in the middle ages to withstand arrows but more recent to last through canon fire. There's not too much in the way of information as you walk around the grounds, no audio guides either. A Sikh museum in the central building has many historic military items and with full background descriptions.

Dear Guest, Thank you for visiting Gobindgarh Fort and for your generous review. We do agree that Gobindgarh Fort is one of the biggest and best forts in India which does not get the visibility and credit it deserves. We hope that through our efforts and word of mouth, the popularity of the fort will grow and more people will be able to enjoy this incredible heritage property. We thank you for visiting and hope that you visit us again soon. Best Regards,

As the wonderful Bikramji informed me and my family - The fort was built over 200 years ago - to protect the golden temple (which is plated with gold). As you enter the fort - you step into an old world realm - you pass the tree lined walkways and reach the moat lined with cannons - the first line of defence.
Then you pass the many fort gates each sturdier than the other - taking you deeper into the past than any commentary could have.
As you enter the space - I loved the wide paths and heritage construction.
We saw people on segways - and other little attractions.
We were a bit late to see the museum - but we saw the 4D movie show and it was an amazing experience as well done as anything I have seen anywhere in the world. They had the life story of the King Ranjit Singh mapped out in 4D - complete with moving seats. (About a 20- 25 minute experience)

The fine dine restaurant - Kesariya Darbar has great food - utterly scrumptious.
The restaurant walls are lined with paintings of the king and his life and high ceiling and chandeliers - quite a royal experience.

There are many other food options available inside which I wasn’t able to personally try.

There’s a light and music show which is supposed to be beautiful - and they have a new movie lined up called Lions of Punjab.

In a case of modernisation meets history - I would come to this place again - as something that’s both immersive and fun for me and my family.

I felt it to be one of the over rated place to include in top 10 sites at Amritsar. The management is only into misleading. Instead of focusing on collection management should focus on hospitality. Once I paid 499 per entry of single person, I saw break down for various aspects. The actual entry part costs only 50₹ many tourists are misled to take 300₹ and 500₹ tickets which includes various add ons. Pathetic services at these sawaris to the customer. No one has any interest in safety and satisfaction of the customers. None of the museums are manned, no one to guide. The only staff who did there job was cultural dancers and 7d show. People in the managerial and supervisory role are least interested in the customer service. Hope they improve over time and enhance the beauty of the place.

Its worth a visit. Do not go with very high expectations. The museum is really worth seeing, with wax models of all the warriors.

The place is around 30 min drive from the city center. It has an entry ticket.
The fort is well maintained and has many small museums, gift shops, restaurants, activities like archery, segway ride, camel ride etc.
P.S. 7D show is a must watch and to be missed.
