We did the temple tour with Gopi - best decision ever! We saw areas no „normal“ tourist is able to go to and he knew the best shortcuts to bring us directly to the most interesting spots. On top he is just an extremely friendly and cool guy!

TOUR GUIDE 'GOPI' as he is known to his friends, is an extremely knowledgeable and popular local tour guide in Amritsar. I was impressed by his english and made me and the other tourists feel very comfortable with his chatty humorous style. His patience, people skills and experience with foreigners made him an excellent guide, giving me (and the group) a very pleasurable and remarkably informative tour of the holy City of Amritsar. I'd booked the Amritsar leg of my mini tour of India for 2 nights, which i thought would be enough, how wrong I was.... Upon his recommendation, the tours i took with GOPI were both, the sunrise and sunset (ceremony) visits to the Golden Temple. And what a magnificent experience it was, not only did I get to experience the Temple and ceremonies, Gopi also arranged it for us to enter the sacred shrine where the holy book is kept, and bathe (take a dip) in the holy waters surrounding it, this bought me so much inner peace and serenity - priceless. i can't thank him enough for how he changed my life experience. Gopi also arranged for us to enter the (world's largest free) kitchen areas where we all found great pleasure in volunteering our help preparing food for the congregation. some of the group were reluctant at first, but when GOPI explained the purpose of it and satisfaction that can be gained, we were all on board. And how true he was. I have never felt more humble and appreciative. GOPI's knowledge and historic insight left me (and the group) lost for words. The FOOD WALK TOUR was just absolutely amazing, a culinary delight for foodies and non foodies. a gentle 2.5 hour informative, humorous lively walk through Amritsar with regular stop-offs at the city's finest food establishments, from 100 year old restaurants, to the best chia (tea) shop in Amritsar, to authentic street sellers of somosas, pokoras, beautifully coloured and flavoured deserts.... a feast for both the eyes and tastebuds. Gopi is a fix-it man, whatever your problem, situation or needs, he found ways of making the day plain sailing for all our group, including my future travel arrangements, as he arranged for my trip to Rishikesh and further on to the Himalayas, I trusted him and allowed him to take charge of my online train, bus and hotel bookings, travel arrangements to and from my hotels and car hire which gave me the freedom to see sight and have experiences i couldn't imagine. Gopi was like my personal planner, and he did it willingly and effortlessly with a few phone calls a few internet searches and a whole lot of experience and contacts. He certainly knows what a tourist needs and provides it in abundance with a happy smile. A humble man with so much to give. He made Amritsar one of the best places i visited in India. I cant thank Gopi enough.

I had a wonderful time on the street food tour with Gopi! We stopped and had snacks and lunch at many traditional joints across old Amritsar. Make sure to come hungry, between all the food and the heat I was stuffed like a turkey by the end of the trip! Gopi also made sure to point out some other interesting architecture and history along the way. He even volunteered to show me around town a bit more after the tour as he had some free time. I was a solo traveler, and by the end of the trip I felt like I was traveling with a friend! I had already seen the Wagah Border and Golden temple by myself, but I had such a great time on the food tour that I wish I hadn’t booked the other tours with Gopi as well. He was super flexible and a fun guide to chat with. I would’ve never found these places on my own. I’m so glad I booked this tour, it was such a blast and a great end to my trip. Im a foreigner living in India, and have travelled around India quite a bit. This was the best tour I’ve had BY FAR. Highly recommend tourist hero!
