The Golden Temple Amritsar (Sri Harmandir Sahib), remains open for 24 hours. Though the Langar (Largest Kitchen which serves free meals to visitors) remains open for 22 hours, from 2:00 AM to 12:00 AM. We visited around 9 PM in the evening, huge crowd was there, and it takes one and half hour time for Darshan. Foreigners are advised to visit around 3:30 AM, one can expect less crowd at that time. Don't miss the Kada Prasad (known as Halwa, made from Ghee, Wheat and Sugar) of the Golden Temple. One needs to cover his/her head with a scarf before entering the Golden Temple. Don't buy phulkari worked dress material from nearby shops of the Golden Temple, all are overpriced. Take a rickshaw (it takes 20 rupees) and go to main bazar, you will find lot of small shops with very less price, don't forget to bargain.

The visit to the Golden Temple, Amritsar was such a serene and spiritual experience! We planned the entire trip because of my 90 year old dad, who wanted to see the Golden Temple! Words cannot describe the beauty and the peace that you feel when you visit. The Golden Temple is a must see both during the morning and at night as both provide such splendid views of the magnificent temple! We also stayed for the Langar and did seva at the temple. The food at the Langar was super delicious and all the sevaks were very helpful - specially with my dad who was in a wheel chair. When the wheel chair we had rented started having issues, the temple management offered a wheel chair and also allowed us to keep the wheel chair for 4 days during our entire stay at Amritsar! Overall it was an unforgettable experience and we will always cherish the seva that the sevaks provided for my 90 year old dad!

This was beyond an amazing experience. Both cultural and spiritual.
We had a wonderful guide Sundeep. It’s the central point of worship for those of the Sikh religion, but it welcomes those of all faiths. As well as being a place of worship, it has immense kitchens that feed 20,000 on a daily basis 24/7 and up to 80,000 on festival days. We were very impressed by our visit here and received a warm welcome. The stores of donated vegetables are extraordinary as is the vast food preparation areas. Not to mention the washing up station! We didn’t go in and see the Temple itself on the inside as there was a four hour queue, but there is another area you can visit where there is a replica of the ‘Principle Sikh Scripture’
We spent time walking around the holy lake where Sikhs can immerse themselves. We loved the views across the water of the beautiful waters and the Golden Temple.
Highly recommend.

"I had the privilege of visiting the Golden Temple in Amritsar, and it was a truly humbling experience. The stunning architecture, the serene sarovar, and the warm hospitality of the Sikh community left me in awe.
A special mention to Dilmeet Singh, who arranged for our visit and provided us with valuable insights into the history and significance of the Golden Temple. His knowledge and passion for the temple were evident throughout our tour.
We also availed the cab services provided by Dilmeet Singh, which were prompt, comfortable, and reasonably priced.
If you're planning to visit the Golden Temple, I highly recommend contacting Dilmeet Singh +917973153505 for a seamless and enriching experience. His services will ensure that your visit is nothing short of extraordinary.

The Golden Temple, also known as Harmandir Sahib, located in Amritsar, is a breathtaking spiritual and cultural landmark that holds deep significance for Sikhs and visitors from all walks of life. As one of the most revered places of worship in the world, it offers an unforgettable experience of peace, devotion, and grandeur.
The first striking feature of the Golden Temple is its stunning architecture. The temple itself is built in a blend of Sikh, Mughal, and Persian styles, with its golden facade reflecting beautifully in the tranquil waters of the surrounding sarovar (holy tank). The sight of the gleaming temple, especially during the early morning or evening, when the sunlight creates a mesmerizing glow, is awe-inspiring.
Visitors are welcomed with warmth and hospitality, reflecting the temple's spirit of inclusivity. The atmosphere is serene, with a sense of calmness that envelops everyone, regardless of their faith or background. The continuous recitation of the Guru Granth Sahib, the holy scripture of Sikhism, fills the air, adding to the spiritual ambiance. The sound of the prayers combined with the peaceful surroundings is deeply meditative and calming.
The langar (community kitchen) is another highlight, where thousands of people are served free meals every day, regardless of their social or economic status. It is a testament to the Sikh principles of selfless service and equality.
One of the most powerful aspects of the Golden Temple is its ability to inspire reflection and contemplation. Visitors often feel a deep sense of connection, whether due to the temple's spiritual significance or the reverence that its surroundings invoke. The beauty of the Golden Temple is not just in its structure but in the experience of the entire visit.
In conclusion, the Golden Temple in Amritsar is a must-visit destination, offering a combination of architectural splendor, spiritual depth, and an experience of selflessness that is rare to find elsewhere. Whether you are seeking spiritual solace or simply marveling at the beauty of the place, the Golden Temple leaves a lasting impression on the heart and mind.

We visited the holy site at 3am in the morning as suggested by our guide Mr Dilmeet Singh ji. Its was a serene experience followed by the palki at 5am.
After doing our prayers Dilmeet ji took us for a complimentary chai and bun maska treat.
Was a good gesture by the noble man.
Highly recommended 🙏

We went to Amritsar especially to visit the Holden Temple.
This really is the e most wonderful place to visit.
We went at around 5pm and it was bustling but the sun was going down and it looked spectacular.
There was a queue present to go within the golden temple, but this moved well and we got in within about 30 minutes.
We returned again at around 3:30am and there were no queues so we were able to stroll in and enjoy the place with a few other worshippers. It was the best time. We spent around 40 minutes just sitting and only then were asked
and not being able to wear anything on our feet was a downer.
We remained until 5am and it was definitely worth doing the early start.
Everyone we met were very respectful and lovely when we asked for guidance.
The volunteers who help out work hard to ensure that everything runs as smoothly and for the worshippers as possible. They do a grand job

Our first visit was mid-morning and although it was quite busy we could walk around without any problem. The first impression as you see the sun on the gold is breathtaking. We did not go inside the temple as the queue was two hours. Once you join you cannot get out. We also visited the Langar which is fascinating. We went back in the evening to see the holy book being put to bed. Also seeing the temple lit up at night is quite special. Would definitely suggest doing both. It is a very calm spiritual place.

I visited the Golden Temple at night, and the experience was beyond words. The roads leading there are beautifully maintained, and the entire walk felt so safe and peaceful. There’s something deeply calming about the atmosphere—just walking towards the temple fills you with a sense of serenity.
It’s a place I would recommend to everyone, no matter your background. The peace and beauty of the Golden Temple at night is something you should not miss if you’re in or around Amritsar. It’s truly a special experience that stays with you.

The 3 am time slot is considered an ideal time to visit the Golden Temple for several reasons:
1. *Less Crowded*: Visiting the Golden Temple at 3 am allows you to avoid the massive crowds that gather during the day. This makes for a more peaceful and serene experience.
2. *Spiritual Significance*: In Sikhism, the early morning hours are considered a sacred time for spiritual growth and connection with the divine. Visiting the temple at 3 am allows you to tap into this spiritual energy.
3. *Stunning Atmosphere*: The Golden Temple is beautifully lit up at night, creating a breathtakingly stunning atmosphere. Visiting at 3 am allows you to witness this beauty in a serene and peaceful environment.
4. *Early Morning Kirtan*: The Golden Temple is famous for its early morning kirtan (devotional singing) sessions, which begin around 3 am. Visiting at this time allows you to experience the soul-stirring kirtan and connect with the divine.
Overall, visiting the Golden Temple at 3 am offers a unique and unforgettable experience that combines spirituality, serenity, and natural beauty."

Hi,
You can easily get around on foot and there are enough tuktuk’s available at a very low cost.
As for renting a bike I am unaware as to where or if these are available.

I am not aware about free accomodations. Check out their website or any other site around Golden temple, who might offer subsidised dharmashala kind of stay. However, prasad around the temple complex and Langar food is absolutely without any cost, and is available 24 hours!
