I was very happy and had great satisfaction to visit this place on my recent visit to the Holy city of Amritsar. Being Sunday it was quite crowded with lots of devotees. I wish if I could visit this place with my family members soon.

Baba Deep Singh is worshiped among Sikhs as one of the most hallowed martyrs in Sikhism and as a highly religious person. His memorial in Golden Temple complex itself is a proof of his importance. Students will love to go and learn history.

A small but historic Memorial Temple. It represents warrior Baba Deep Singh bravery and his love of his country.
Architecture is simple by comparison to Golden Temple but still worth to go.

It is devotees who make a place sacred. This couldn't be more true than in this case. The halo of Golden Temple is incomplete without the awe inspiring story of Baba Deep Singh ji.
As the legend goes, when the news of Afghan marauders under Ahmad Shah Durrani leaving the Har mandir sahab desecrated with cow entrails in the pond reached the hermit Sikh scholar Baba Deep Singh, the 75 year old Sikh, once baptised by none other than Guru Gobind Singh, got up to avenge it with his small group of 500 men. Before starting out, he avowed he will pay his obeisances at the sacred temple no matter what.
The fascinating lore is, Baba Deep Singh got decapitated 10 miles from Amritsar, but kept on fighting with his head in left hand and weapons in right, seeing which the Afghans started fleeing. Baba Deep Singh kept his word before dying by throwing the ball of his severed head in the direction of Har mandar & it landing in periphery bang on!
The spot has ever since been marked in parikrama, a humble wreath encircling it. Recently a small memorial has come up at the spot, but the earlier simple spot with just a wreath was far more evocative than the present mark.
Still it's heart warming to see Baba Deep Singh's heroic images selling along side those of Golden Temple. The story of Golden Temple is incomplete without that of Baba Deep Singh.

It is a small memorial for Baba Deep Singh Ji in Golden Temple. You may miss this place if you do not actively search. Some crowd is always there in front of it.

Baba Deep Singh Ji memorial is located in the Parikrama of Harmandar Sahib (Golden Temple). You can read the history of this great warrior and pay your respect while at this memorial. Baba Deep Singh's bravery is unparalleled and it has a very special place in the Sikh History. Baba Ji was part of Guru Gobind Singh Ji's army and grew from Ranks to become Leader of "Shaheedan Misl", the deadliest warriors of Sikh Army in the early 18th century. He fought his last battle at the age of 75 against Durrani Army of Timur Shah. He had promised that he will protect Harmandir Sahib from Timur's Army. Baba Deep Singh suffered a serious blow of Sword to his neck during this battle and his head was hanging to one side. To keep up his promise, he placed his head back on his neck with his left hand and fought a fierce battle with the Khanda in his right hand till he reached the entrance of Harmandar Sahib and collapsed there. The army of Timur Shah was pushed back and Sikhs celebrated Diwali at Harmandar Sahib in that year (1757). There is another Gurudwara Sahib in the memory of Baba Deep Singh Ji which is located 7 KM away from Golden Temple on NH15 near village Chabba. I hope to visit that place during my next trip to Amritsar.

This is a small memorial located on one side of the holy lake inside the Golden Temple complex and we saw it while coming back from the temple. It is dedicated to the brave Sikh guru Baba Deep Singh and here we saw a idol showing the Sikh guru holding his own severed head in one hand and sword in another hand sitting on top of a horse fighting the enemies. Many people were offering prayers here. This place is a quick stopover but it is great to know about the history of this martyr.
