We arrived at Grover Zampa unannounced around lunchtime and could see that we hadn’t arrived at the best time. Not only were the staff all having lunch but there was obviously a lot of building works going on! Nonetheless we were graciously received and asked to take a seat for 10 minutes and we would be escorted around the vineyard and given a tasting session.
Grover Zampa is currently expanding its premises to include accommodation, a restaurant and new tasting rooms in a bid to attract more tourists from the Mumbai area and looking at the half finished work I would say it will be fabulous when finished.
Despite all the ongoing works we were shown the vineyards, the various sorting, fermenting and bottling areas and some of the equipment is state of the art and very impressive.
Then we sampled 5 different wines from their medium to higher price ranges and coming from Europe we may not have expected such great wines as we tasted!
All in all a wonderful experience which I can only see as getting better when all the upgrades are completed and well worth a visit.

Wanted to do a Wine tour for quite some time, Got an opportunity during Christmas holidays. First day we visited Soma, York and Sula vineyards and enjoyed every bit of wine tours and tasting sessions even though places were crowded. Sula was chaotic. Next on the list was Grover Zampa. Lo and behold; what an experience awaited us. It was an wholesome experience solely due to the professionalism of Sushant. The tasting session in the Cellar with Oak barrels added to the mesmerizing experience. It was the only vineyard, which offered different glasses for reds, whites and the sparkling wines. He conducted the tour for over three hours and answered to all our queries. After this tour we realized that other wine tours were just run-off-the-mill. The only drawback is that it lacks accommodation and any eatery. However, another gem of restaurant, Malaka Spice, awaits you in Vellone vineyard nearby.

One of most insolite vineyards with sloping grape plantations and good hospitality! We took a tour(which included climbing the vineyards) and tasted 6 of their best wines each of which was different compared to their counters in the area! The wines I liked over others were Sauvignon Blanc and VA reserve!

This is probably the best wine tasting you will experience in the Nashik area. The wines are of good quality, and the tasting is done in small groups, in the very authentic barrel room. Sushant Soni led our session, and he is very good at what he does. This is definitely worth the little 7 km detour from the expressway.

Visited here recently with two friends and we had an amazing experience which started with the interesting landscape as we approached the winery.
Met our guide and he took us for a walk throught the vineyards and explained the different grape types and by the time we got to the "one tree" he had organised a lovely bottle of champagne for us - GREAT.
The tour through the winery was very interesting and impressed by the cleanliness.
Then the highlight in the barrel room with the "long table" sampling the wines. Just fantastic with the mustiness etc associated with cellars. The wine maker joined us and provided great insight into not only the wines but how they are going about it and where they wish to go.
The champagne is the best I have had in India and the premium red Chene just beautiful. This wine will only get better over time.
Would like to return it was so interesting.

I bought a bottle of GROVER ART COLLECTION CABERNET SHIRAZ and I took a sip of it and dumped the sh*t down the drain. It was plain ethyl alcohol with a flavour of grapes and WOOD CHIPS. Literally, wood chips are added to this so-called wine during fermentation. I am appalled to see this kind of SH*t being called INDIAN WINE. owners of Grovers you need to be ashamed of such a wine which is pathetic even to be called a country TARRA.

Being from a wine producing country and having tasted many excellent European wines, I really don’t know what to say. I didn’t know that grapes could be grown in the hot climate of southern India but apparently they trusted the Australians to plant these grapes and the French to help in the production of the wine. The result isn’t bad. We had a nice tour of the vineyard and had good Indian food and wine tasting here. We learned that they had 25 acres of vineyards producing good quality wine thanks to the red soil here and that they exported wine to Europe and Japan.

What are the charges for the tour? Also, can someone recommend some good hotels close by and tourist attraction?
I am travelling from Mumbai, no car, so will be hiring an uber. Any feedback please?
Looking forward to responses. - LJ

I don't remember the charges because even I'm from Mumbai and have a farm house in Igatpuri and have been travelling to all the Vineyard's and Nasik frequently all these years.
Secondly if you visit now still you will be able to go for wine tasting but wont be able to see the Grape plantation. Best time to visit will be from December to Febuary if you want to see Grape plantation. Still you can enjoy and like I have mentioned do visit Vallonee Vineyard nearby and Vaitarna Lake.
If you want to make a stay you will have to pick hotel in Igatpuri. There is Manas Resort, Mystic Valley and some more if you check out for hotels in Igatpuri on Trivago or Tripadvisor. Secondly if you really want to enjoy nature then go for Rainforest Resort or some more resorts around. Remember on the way to Nasik just around 3 kms ahead of igatpuri you take a Right and the road goes to Bhandara Dam, same road there are some good resorts. Trust me this road is picturesque. Full of Waterfalls and there is a dam, all this around 10-12 Kms distance from Igatpuri. Of course then you have a choice to drive ahead to Bhandara dam and just ahead around 12 kms is Randha Falls, worth visit. But with less rainfall not sure how it will be. If nyou want to do all this will recommend you to spend least 2 nights.
